Did we just become best friends? YUP! 😅 I found this gem hidden in a small strip mall in waukegan Illinois. I make it my goal to try small Mexican restaurants across the US and this is BY FAR the best Al Pastor Taco Dinner I've had IN THE UNITED STATES. The only downside to this place is I don't think I can continue my quest to try as many as I can because now, I only want Tacos el Durango! Great job, guys!

This place is a hidden gem in Gurnee! It has absolutely delicious traditional Mexican food! This Is a small family owned restaurant with no more than 10 tables. While eating there with my husband recently I commented to him that the sopes were so good that it tasted like his mom could have made them. Overhearing this, our server replied, “That’s because MY mom made them!” You have to give this place a try. While somewhat pricey for Mexican food it is definitely worth it.

The restaurant was super clean and tables were spaced out to allow social distancing. Atmosphere is nice, nicely decorated. Food was really good and freshly made. Highly recommend this place for really good Mexican food.

It's actually been a few months since the last time I ate here and really been missin' it. IMHO Tacos el Durango is in my top 3 among Mexican restaurants in Lake county and in this county alone there's gotta be easily 200+ places to get Mexican eats. Cozy venue is always kept ultra clean and friendly staff/owners are serving up delicious Mexican fare at reasonable prices. A bit of a hidden gem even though it's off of a main drag just west of US 41 in a low lying strip mall in far southeast Gurnee near the Park City border.

Been feeling like a taco traitor as of late thanks to this joint. Arguably the best steak taco in Lake County..seriously. This place and ETP run neck & neck. Gotta love a good family style Mexi restaurant. Service is fast and always welcoming. Whoevers seasoning the steak back there is truly testing my loyalty. Keep em' coming, team. Kudos to everybody.

Yum! Just tried this little gem today. I work right down the street and never knew this place was here! Someone recommended it to me that I work with so went there for lunch today. The service is great. They are very prompt. Great food, great service, and good food. I use to go to Tacos El Norte but this place in my opinion is better! Tacos el Durango has better tasting and quality food. It is hot and you feel satisfied when your done. I only have a certain amount of time to take my break so this is very convenient. They get you in and out quickly. Will definitely be returning.
