“The BEST Mexican food in Chicago. I have tried so many dishes here and they’re all spectacular but anything with the mole negro is my favorite. The cocktails are top notch and the service is too. It’s perfect for a casual weeknight meal but also great for a big group. I’m planning to have my birthday party here next year! Manchamanteles is the perfect neighborhood restaurant, the perfect Mexican restaurant, and just an all around pleasure. I can’t recommend it enough!”
“I had an incredible meal here! Hands down some of the best steak tacos I've ever tasted—the meat was perfectly seasoned and incredibly flavorful. The sweet, rich, and savory mole sauce is absolutely delicious and authentic. To top it all off, the guacamole was out of this world, fresh, and perfectly balanced. If you are looking for amazing, flavorful food and a great atmosphere, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back for more! Highly recommend!”

“This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Chicago, every meal myself and family have had here has been amazing. The Mole which is the house specialty is absolutely delicious, served with grilled chicken breasts. The Mole enchiladas are also an excellent choice, the soap Azteca is fabulous. If you arrive before 3:00, they offer a brunch menu, tried the machaca con huevo, it was savory and hearty.They also carry fresh aguas frescas and beer.”
“Party of 2 and we both had a great time! Very laid back atmosphere with amazing and interesting food! We had the ceviche, the cochinita pibil (a must!), and the spring special which was stuffed chicken with rose-petal mole. As someone who loves all things floral, it wad a game changer! “My family and I have passed this restaurant hundreds of times and finally had a chance to stop in, and we're so glad we did! We ordered the flautas, chicken quesadillas, steak tacos, and cochinita pibin. Everything we ordered was delicious, but the cochinita pibin was definitely the highlight of our meal. The pork was tender, tangy, and packed with flavor... My 9 and 7 year old made sure nothing was left! For dessert we had the churros and pineapple upside down cake. Both were absolutely delicious, not a crumb was left. The food was amazing, the staff was attentive and very friendly. It was a great way to start our evening, and we'll definitely be back!”
“La comida de aquí es excelente, venimos aqui para una reunión y Rey fue súper con nosostros. Empezamos con salsa y queso fundido, las tortillas están hechas a mano en el restaurante y se les nota! Están ricisimas. Los tres sabores de mole también están bien ricos, agarré las enchiladas de pollo con mole rojo y sus tacos árabes eran únicos y sabrosos. 12/10 recomendados.”
“It is rare to find a true authentic Mexican restaurant of such good quality. The service was 10/10, but the food blew us all away! From the drinks, to the appetizers, to the mole, everything was fantastically delicious. Homemade tortillas is also a huge plus for me and these were so delicious! The only dish that was not a huge hit with one of our party members was the Chiles en Nogada because they have a twist and are made with pork instead of the traditional beef, so "the flavor was off". Aside from that, the mole was fantastic, we really did manchamos nuestro mantel, and everyone left with a full belly.”
“Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully executed, and our Mexican friend felt the flavors were genuinely authentic—more like a tour across different regional Mexican styles than a generic “Mexican” menu. The standout for me was the Tamal de Huitlacoche: unexpectedly on the sweeter side and surprisingly delicious. The space is large with a great atmosphere, and we left very full and happy. Way better than I expected and i would like to come back. Tried 2025 Christmas pre-fix menu 85/person.”
