Amazing Food & Wonderful People! La Charanga Mexican Restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is incredibly delicious — full of authentic Mexican flavor and made fresh every time. One of the best parts is that the food is halal, which makes it even better for those of us looking for great taste with peace of mind. The owner is extremely kind and welcoming, always making sure customers feel comfortable and satisfied. You can really tell they care about quality and hospitality. Highly recommend La Charanga to anyone who loves flavorful, authentic, and halal Mexican food. Definitely one of my favorite spots! 🌮✨

“Going to La Charanga is such a vibe.”

Going to La Charanga is such a vibe. Firstly, it is halal and it’s rare enough to find an authentic Mexican restaurant that is. The staff is always friendly. I usually stick with my chicken tinga and gyro taco and it is always full of flavor. And of course, I have to order the non alcoholic Watermelon margarita that gets finished too early. I always feel cozy at this place.

“Never fails to satisfy.”

Never fails to satisfy. In my opinion La Charanga has the best burritos & tacos in Chicago. 100% halal. Always consistent. I come here a few times a month & my go tos are either the birria tacos, steak burrito or the steak burrito lunch box special. The quantity is great for the price & the flavor is on point. 10/10 would recommend.

“The tacos were amazing!!!”

The tacos were amazing!!!! The birria and steak tacos were delicious, warm, and made well. The elote was delicious and a large portion. The best part was that it is zabiha halal. The staff was so kind everything came out quickly, would highly recommend!!

Delicious and halal food. Had the taco Tuesday special with ground beef, the servers were kind and the food was amazing. Would recommend!

“Bathrooms: the bathrooms are very clean, and probably what you would expect.”

Bathrooms: the bathrooms are very clean, and probably what you would expect. However, their soap dispenser ran out of soap, and one of the employees put in a soap bottle from inside their cooking area. Customer Service: the lady at the front was very friendly and very helpful and helping us order our food! I got an opportunity to converse with her in Spanish, and she even helped me improve my fluency! 🇲🇽 Wait Time: I believe it took us 20 minutes to wait for our food after we ordered, but I suppose it’s not too big of a deal. Ambiance: the space here is quiet, and very relaxing. Probably the best place to go to after a busy day! Facilities: I believe they have Wi-Fi, but other than that, nothing else too special. Product Quality/Value: I believe the food here was probably the best in the entire area because the food was so immaculately cooked and prepared that it felt like a golden experience when I tried my first margarita here! Accessibility: there is no built-in accommodations for those with disabilities, but I believe if you knock on the door, the people inside will be more than happy to help you out. Parking: there are a lot of spots next to the restaurant, but beware, the lines are very hard to see, so make sure you be careful. Crowd Levels: when I dined there, there was only another family inside, so it is very spacious in there. Cleanliness: the place there was very clean, and I believe they take the best care to make this place great! Signage: there was a sign that says that there is no bathroom, but inside, I did see a bathroom. Other than that, it is really good here!

“This restaurant was excellent and exceeded my expectations.”

This restaurant was excellent and exceeded my expectations. When it comes to tacos, I can be quite critical, and I can confidently say that these tacos passed the test. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the atmosphere was peaceful. Unlike some places that use ground beef, this restaurant uses actual cubed steak in their 'steak' tacos. This is a significant point for me because when I order a steak taco, I expect real steak! The meat had a delightful, slight char on the edges, and they were served traditionally with cilantro and onions, which I appreciate. They didn't overload me with unnecessary lettuce, tomato, cheese, and so on. I'm looking forward to returning and trying other items on the menu.

“Solid Mexican cuisine.”

Solid Mexican cuisine. Complimentary chips were fresh/warm and salsa was pretty good. We ordered two different tacos and one fajita entree. Both chicken tacos were awesome. Chicken in fajitas was slightly dry hence one less star. We went for lunch so not many people in the restaurant. Zabihah halal certificate clearly visible.
