“I’m in Winnetka at least twice a year for our toddler’s doctor visits. Yesterday, I noticed this restaurant and decided to pop in. I was greeted very warmly by the staff. I ordered one of each taco variation—like a taco flight. Every single one was so delicious. The flavors of the meat, along with the spiciness of the homemade sauce, meshed together amazingly. One of the women on staff brought me some chips and dip on the house while I waited for my order. Omg, the chips were light, warm, and very flavorful. I’m definitely not going to wait for my son’s next doctor visit to return. This is definitely worth hopping off the E-way for a bite. Thank you. 🙏🏾”

“Fondita Miguel is my new go to spot for local taco. It’s a small space so pickup is the way to go. The corn tortillas are soft and fresh, the birria is rich and flavorful, and the pastor is done really well. My wife loves the chicken. You also have to get the street corn. It is a must. Everything hits, prices are solid, and it is an easy spot to keep coming back to. Highly recommend.”

“Destination tacos? In Winnetka? Yes - that's now a thing. Fondita Miguel is 45 minutes from us, but is well worth the trip. We had the pastor-marinated (al pastor) pork, chicken tinga, beef birria, and hongos (mushrooms) tacos and got to sample the asada steak - along with the elote (street corn) salad, guacamole, and a variety of salsas (wow!). The beef, chicken, mushrooms, pork, and steak fillings in our tacos are completely different in taste, seasoning, and texture. The spice level is just right for us - with a nice kick, but without burning our taste buds. The corn tortillas were freshly fried and warm, with a soft-crispy texture - they crunch but don't fall apart when you bite into the taco! And the fillings are generous, which I think is a nod to American portion sizes. The salsas are not just your average accompaniment. Each has differently prepared chiles as the base, ranging from a milder, creamy jalapeno salsa to a hotter red salsa (with a secret ingredient). We also heard there's a fourth one that's hotter than the three we tried. Like the salsas, the elote is not just an add-on. It's a must-order dish for whenever you need a refreshing, cool, creamy, and sweet balancing bite between the savory and spicy bites of the tacos. We also enjoyed chatting with the friendly team at Fondita Miguel, and the super-casual, counter-service-and-lunch-bar atmosphere makes you feel like you're on a taco crawl in Chicago - without leaving the 'burbs.”

“Absolutely amazing! I ordered the tacos - one chicken one pork and, of course, the famous Tres Leches for desert. I also tried, for the first time, horchata. Everything was absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to come back!”
