“It is natural to approach a renowned city establishment with a degree of skepticism when it expands to the suburbs under a slightly modified name. In Chicago's Little Village, Nuevo Leon is a celebrated community staple, widely revered for its exceptional service, outstanding cuisine, signature flour tortillas, and flavorful machacado (shredded dry beef scrambled with eggs). Fortunately, the newly opened Nuevo Leon Cafe entirely dispelled any doubts. The experience felt instantly familiar, delivering the exact same high-quality flavors in both the machacado and the tortillas. Across the board, the attentive service and culinary execution perfectly mirrored the original location's high standards. Given the quality of the offering, the restaurant is poised to quickly outgrow its current footprint. The space is notably small and intimate, which creates a cozy atmosphere but results in limited parking. Of note, the venue also hosts live entertainment and serves specialty drinks on select days, making a return visit highly enticing. Congratulations to Laura Gutiérrez on a spectacular addition to the dining scene.”

“VERY NICE SERVICE AND TASTY MEXICAN STYLE FOOD...FROM PILSEN TO HILLSIDE!”

“This review is all about the tacos. I got the 3 tacos lunch with chicken, carne asada, and al pastor. They were all good but the standout was by far the al pastor. The marinated pork was so juicy and flavorful and seasoned. Next time I go I’m getting 3 of those! The tacos are also decent sized as well. They were not small street tacos. I made a couple meals out of it.”

“La comida es deliciosa muy riquísimo se lo recomiendo”

“The Mole chicken enchiladas were very good. The chicken was fresh and tender, mole sauce very good as well as the rice and beans. The waitress was very professional and courteous. Will return 👍😊”

“Awesome place excellent service AMAZING food highly recommended”

“this is definitely my new favorite restaurant in the suburbs. the rice is seasoned to the gods, the beans are divine. the green chicken enchiladas are so delicious and drenched in goodness. the nachos were surprising. i never had nachos like this individually covered, but its so good too. the horchata is amazing. the atmosphere is pleasant. I'm coming back forever and trying everything on the menu. thanks for coming over here! oh and the salsas are so fresh and just spicey enough that its pleasant on your tongue”

“Food was delicious! Staff were friendly! Location is great if you’re visiting loved ones at the cemetery! Beer, margaritas and miches are available!”

“Had the guisado Rojo. It was delicious. Prices are great and service is fast. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area who is looking for authentic Mexican food. Definitely a great addition to the area. If you love Mexican food you should stop here and try them!”

“Outstanding food and service. We decided to stop here on a whim, great choice. They had a mini appetizer, which was great. Fresh made to order guacamole, and hot fresh chips! The steak burrito and steak tacos were outstanding and well seasoned. Definitely will be back.”

“Real deal authentic Mexican food. Their beans and rice are too salty. Otherwise the food is good. Delicious salsas. Friendly staff. The restauran space is small and loud.”
