“One of my favorite new Korean spots in Chicago.”

One of my favorite new Korean spots in Chicago! Tucked away just outside the busy Fulton Market area, I'm a sucker for "corner spots" and Perilla makes great use of that peculiar layout. The menu has diverse food and drink options, allowing for both KBBQ or family-style shared meals. While some items feel a bit pricey, I think the quality matches the $. Here are some highlights: • Soondubu Jjigae: amazing, slightly spicy veggie stew • scallion pancake: a staple dish, done right • seared kimchi: another classic shared dish • soju cocktails: I tried the Cloud 9, which felt like a soju-spin on an espresso martini -- fun drink! • ice cream dessert: vanilla bean with powdered matcha and chocolate shavings on top. A nice suprise were bits of dehydrated strawberry underneath!

Service was best I've ever had. 5 people helped & served us throughout our dinner. There was never a moment we waited for anything. The food was beyond delicious- you must try the fried chicken. Looking forward to trying their other restaurant.

Perilla was the best Korean BBQ I've ever had, as well as the friendliest, most welcoming staff. My server stayed with me, cooking my meal one or two pieces at a time and we just chatted away. Will likely go back to Chicago just for Perilla.

“Excellent Korean takeout experience.”

Excellent Korean takeout experience. After trying some of their items, it quickly became clear why Michelin awarded them the Bib Gourmand four times in a row since 2021. The food was plentiful, fresh and very tasty. As starters, we enjoyed their Banchan set and scallion Muchim, followed by Bibimbap and Jjajangmyeon noodles as mains. Instead of hitting you with (too) intense flavors, everything came in subtle yet delicious variations of what you’d expect from Korean cuisine. We will definitely return to check out more of their menu!

“Stellar restaurant.”

Stellar restaurant. Great quality food and service. Everyone was very nice and made sure our dining experience memorable. Wish we would’ve had more time to enjoy additional items on the menu. We had to be somewhere else that evening. Highlights are definitely the meats (quality), cheese corn and shishito peppers. Loved that our waiter gave us the option to cook our own meats. Loved that he also described every dish. I highly recommend this restaurant. We walked in on a Saturday night and did not realize that reservations were needed. We were accommodated. Thank you for your excellent customer service. We left feeling very satisfied with our meal and service. We will definitely return if we are ever in town again.

“Great Korean BBQ steakhouse.”

Great Korean BBQ steakhouse! The food is delicious and high quality. It is a bit on the pricier side, especially since the vegetable set comes with an additional charge. That said, the overall experience is enjoyable, and I’d still recommend it for a special occasion or treat-yourself night.

An authentic jewel within a jewel… Where to start with this place… 🧐 well, the food and dishes are well crafted and high product quality, the staff was knowledgeable and the owners not only have it in their DNA, they are also pro’s and know what they are doing. After some careful consideration I decided to celebrate my wife’s birthday with this first stop for dinner. We both come with a long background in Asian Cuisine experience after our 9 years living and traveling there. That’s why we are usually very critical around Asian restaurants outside Asia. Just because we hate chefs and restaurants owners offering an unrealistic taste of their own culture outside their territories. But this wont happen to you here. We had a great time with not only great food, but also well equipped tables, state of the art bbq where you can walk out and not smell like a 100 year old grill yourself. But the place has a hidden gem, an Easter egg, not advertised, not promoted, there’s no need… quality and taste speak for itself so when you go here… try to find it so that, like me, you will have to come back. Oh, one last thing… good luck, there’s months waiting list already. They must have been doing something really well for to wait this long.

Even though I forgot to take ALL the photos of the food, I have 1 photo of the drink we had— “Cloud 9”— single-handedly one of the best beverages I have ever had! (I’ve bartender for 20 years) Secondly, the service was amazing, we were seated within 5 minutes and they squeezed us in from their overflow of their sister restaurant. We were catered to for the inconvenience of having to travel from one location to another. ALL of that aside, the food was phenomenal and probably the BEST food we’ve ever had in Chicago. I would highly recommend, and it should be on a Chicago MUST list! We will absolutely return. We’ve never seen a more attentive owner in Chicago. Truly an amazing experience. We did not even have a Togo box because we ate everything. The staff was impressed that we ate everything. Great portions, upbeat, fresh food, and a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!!

Korean BBQ in an upscale setting, a bit pricey and not all you can eat, but the quality fills that gap. Really enjoyed the somewhat quieter ambiance compared to other places that have lots music blaring or very noisy ventilation. These grills have vents in the sides that suck air out without the need for anything above your head. The cuts of meat and rice were amazing, especially the A5 and ribeye. It's a bit off the main west loop drag, but it's very much worth your time to go.

Was super impressed by perilla fare! My fiance and I checked out this place. We actually meant to try the steakhouse but made reservations at the fare instead. We were a little disappointed at first that we made that mistake HOWEVER, I am actually so happy about it. It was probably one of our fave and the best Korean BBQ we have had. The meats were so tender and tasty! They staff was so attentive and informative. I believe our server was onyx? She was one of the best waitresses e have had in Chicago.. go see her and take her recommendations for food. We will def be back !

“A must visit place for KBBQ.”

A must visit place for KBBQ! The Shishito peppers was amazingly good. Joshua and all of the crews were super friendly and nice. We had wonderful time and delicious food there. I followed the Michelin guide and this place doesn’t disappoint me. 🥰
