You can tell from the first bite, and the last one stays with you long after (I loved all pieces but the sea urchin from Hokkaido was just so amazing and buttery-melting in my mouth. I didn't like sea urchin before but now I do). Every piece was so good we kept forgetting to take pictures! The restaurant is private, calm, and comfortable with no distractions. Everyone, from the hostess and chef to his assistant, make sure you feel at ease and fully enjoy the experience. Originally from Tokyo with decades of experience, Chef Kanemaru has only been open for a year and a half in Chicago, so if you haven't been yet, go. Genuinely one of the best sushi experiences I've had, not to mention the excellent service.”
“Absolutely exceptional experience at Omakase Room by Kanemaru. From the moment I sat down, the service was warm, attentive, and very professional. Every course was beautifully presented and you can immediately tell the fish was incredibly fresh and carefully selected. The otoro literally melted in my mouth, and the overall balance of flavor, texture, and temperature was executed at a very high level. I also appreciated how clean, calm, and intimate the atmosphere felt — true omakase experience. The staff took time to explain the dishes and made the entire dinner feel personalized instead of rushed. For the quality of seafood, technique, and hospitality, this was absolutely worth it. One of the best sushi experiences I’ve had in Chicago. Highly recommend for anyone who truly appreciates fresh fish and authentic omakase. Will definitely come back again.”

The chef is also fantastic; he’s happy to answer any questions about the ingredients story or explanations about fish. I learn a lot from the chef.
