“Favorites were the ceviche (we actually ordered it twice and LICKED the actual plate clean; with the thumbs-up from our wonderful waitress who said we could do it to not waste the AMAZING SAUCE)”

“Had a great experience and the food was delicious.”
Had a great experience and the food was delicious. Ordered off the Chicago Restaurant Week menu; Yucas Trufadas and Arroz Con Mariscos. Split both desserts with my dinner guest. We were there around 7pm and service was great, the staff was attentive and helpful. They have an enclosed outdoor area which I'd like to come back and check out someday. Plus, want to try some dishes I saw from their regular menu.

“I absolutely loved visiting this restaurant.”
I absolutely loved visiting this restaurant! It offers Peruvian fusion cuisine with Asian influences — modern, elegant, and with a great atmosphere. We started with the tostones with guacamole, and I loved that the server presented all the ingredients and prepared the guacamole right in front of us — such a fresh and fun touch. The Kayao ceviche was delicious, with perfectly balanced acidity and flavor. But the highlight of the night was the Pollo Anticuchero — an airline cut chicken served with a flavorful glaze, incredibly juicy and tender, it literally melted in the mouth. The endive salad on the side was a great complement. Overall, an excellent dining experience with great attention to detail, beautiful presentation, and authentic, well-executed flavors. I’d definitely go back!

We had a great meal at Kayao, including the Acevichado, Mantaco Tartare, Ceviche Nikkei, Ceviche Clasico, Arroz con Mariscos and Chaufa. Everything was high quality and delicious. Dayan was our server and was excellent. She was friendly and gave us great guidance on menu selections. Each dish was coursed nicely with a description of each dish as it was presented.

“Came for weekend brunch with family.”
Came for weekend brunch with family. We all had different things so I managed to get a taste of many dishes. Really excellent food, the oysters with leche de Tigre and aji Amarillo were great. Ceviche and grilled mushroom humus was also done very well. The branzino for the brunch price fixe was cooked perfectly and the risotto excellent . Deserts were also very good. Attentive servers and great decor. Will be back.

“Really quaint and cozy with a little ambiance and flair.”
Really quaint and cozy with a little ambiance and flair. Excellent service. Friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and served with aesthetics in mind. The cocktails were clever and delicious, so many choices, all 6 of us ordered a different drink. We sat in the window. It was very private and cozy, perfect for a girl's night out.

“Trying Peruvian food for the first time, we decided to go with the house recommendation — a five-course pre-fixe menu.”
Trying Peruvian food for the first time, we decided to go with the house recommendation — a five-course pre-fixe menu. My favorite was definitely the ceviche Kayao (4th pic). Overall, every dish was spectacular and incredibly fresh. The ambiance was perfect for a date night or a casual dinner.

“Kayao delivers a good service, inviting ambiance, and delicious coastal-inspired dishes.”
Kayao delivers a good service, inviting ambiance, and delicious coastal-inspired dishes. The staff is attentive and helpful without being intrusive, creating a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish. The menu offers a standout variety of ceviches along with both raw and cooked seafood options, each prepared with bright flavors and fresh ingredients. The short rib is another highlight—tender, rich, and deeply satisfying, making it a must-try dish. Complementing the food, the cocktails are well-crafted and balanced, elevating the overall dining experience.

“We were visiting from NYC and have amazing restaurants there.”
We were visiting from NYC and have amazing restaurants there. It has been awhile since we have all enjoyed our meals and each others as well. We had the ceviche Nikkei with tuna, for an appetizer which was wonderful and it was in a sauce. We also had the Chaufa which was a Peruvian fried rice with duck in it and it tasted phenomenal. We also had the Pollo Antichuchero which was grilled chicken and we loved it. Last but not least was the Lomo Chifero which was stir fried filet mignon with potatoes onions and rice and that was fantastic. We were so full we could not eat dessert which probably was delicious. Great food, great service and warm atmosphere.

“absolute 10/10 experience.”
absolute 10/10 experience. i encourage everyone who reads this to go, whether its for the first or a return visit. there wasn’t a single dish that didn’t blow my tastebuds out of the water. as far as food goes, i recommend the ceviche as an appetizer, sushi to follow along coupled with the pasta and risotto finished off with the fruit custard and apple/pineapple yogurt. every single dish was a 10/10. please give chef gonzalo and the whole team my regards. look forward to coming back
