Meeting up with some locals who frequent this establishment all the time. Super glad they brought me here. I would venture to say this is the best sushi place in Chicago. Fresh ingredients that have a pop of flavor in every bite. The menu has a wonderful variety and from what we had it was fantastic. Customer service was amazing, great staff, from the front of the house to the back. Loved the atmosphere. Definitely if you're in the mood for sushi you must stop here, you will definitely enjoy it

“I recently visited Kamehachi, one of my go-to spots for Japanese cuisine, and once again, the...”
I recently visited Kamehachi, one of my go-to spots for Japanese cuisine, and once again, the experience did not disappoint! While I usually opt for their yaki soba or udon (both of which are always perfectly seasoned and hearty), I decided to try something different this time and ordered the chicken katsu. I also indulged in some sushi, including the New York rolls and the chef’s selection of nigiri. The chicken katsu was delightful—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a flavorful tonkatsu sauce that perfectly complemented the dish. The portion size was generous but not overwhelming, and the presentation was impeccable. The New York sushi rolls were fresh and flavorful, with a great balance of textures. The chef’s selection of nigiri was the highlight of my order—every piece melted in my mouth, showcasing the freshness and skill that Kamehachi is known for. I paired my meal with the Hachi-tini, a light and refreshing cocktail that was subtle in flavor but perfectly balanced. It wasn’t overpowering, making it a great accompaniment to the richness of the dishes. My partner ordered the sunset rolls and the chef’s selection of sashimi. The sunset rolls were vibrant and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and sweetness. The sashimi was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh, with each slice showcasing the quality of the fish. My partner was equally impressed and couldn’t stop raving about the combination of flavors and textures in their meal. The atmosphere at Kamehachi is another reason we keep coming back. The space is warm and inviting, striking a balance between traditional and modern design. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, always happy to make recommendations or answer questions about the menu. Overall, Kamehachi delivered yet another memorable dining experience. Whether you’re a fan of sushi, noodles, or classic Japanese comfort dishes, this place has something for everyone. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu—though I might be tempted to revisit the chicken katsu and nigiri selection again! Highly recommend it for anyone seeking a consistently high-quality Japanese dining experience.

“The bento box was absolutely amazing.”
The bento box was absolutely amazing! My husband tried the Katsu-don and thought it could use a bit more flavor, but it was still good. Unlike other places where it has that hint of sweetness, this one was more plain, and everything tasted similar, so a bit monotonous. But oh my goodness, the bento box was a whole different story! It was incredibly delicious, and the portion for both plates were generous. I really enjoyed the entire experience, from the delicious food to the attentive service. I also ordered one of the classic sushi rolls, and it was so good! I can't wait to try the signature rolls. They were all so friendly and caring. I'm definitely planning to return with more family! Being pregnant, they took great care to adjust anything raw on my plate. I was literally craving a bento box and I'm thrilled I discovered this restaurant 😭 now I'm craving it again as I write this review 🥲 I might just have to convince my parents to join me so I have an excuse to go again 😂

“Kamehachi is a favorite of mine.”
Kamehachi is a favorite of mine. I've been there a number of times and it's always terrific. The quality of the fish is what sets them apart from everyone else. Absolute must have is the Green Turtle Roll, it is an outstanding combination of flavors. I get it every time I go there. Service is great and everyone is always very kind. Good drinks too (I had the Eno Manhattan). Recommended Appetizers: Rock Shrimp Recommended Rolls: Green Turtle Spicy Tuna Dlx Dlx Recommended Nigiri/Sashimi: Otoro Suzuki

“Recommend: enjoyed it overall, place looked great inside and nice patio.”
Recommend: enjoyed it overall, place looked great inside and nice patio. Service was good but was a bit slow for us. The food was great recommend some items below that I had. The momiji drink was great, also the tales of wasabi maki, and the spicy edamame (very good portion, enough for 3-4 to share). Also, I particularly like the eggplant skewer, would definitely recommend all that. The truffle soba noodles (with chicken) were really dry, they majorly lacked in more sauce of some kind or oil (maybe i should have added more soy sauce), but I would not get it again. Overall it was good and I will return.

We decided to try this place for a date night dinner before going to a show. The food was excellent. fresh and flavorful, and our server, Bolero, was the best! She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, along with how the food tasted and made suggestions that were spot on. She is everything as a customer would expect. Overall, it's a great dining spot. Thanks!
