“At the end of your delicious meal you won't really be too worried about the lack of water or stretched thin wait staff or any of the rest of it”
After reading other reviews I am amazed and can only assume most people have never had the privilege of eating good sushi.
Inedible - smelled so bad I had to walk it straight to the dumpster.
Ordered takeout. Soup and some spicy tuna rolls.

“Love the sushi from Kai.”
Love the sushi from Kai! Both the South Loop and this location are great. My favorite roll is the Ocean roll 10/10. Quick service and the patio is nice in the warmer months.

“Absolutely delicious!”
Absolutely delicious!! I got a spicy crab roll with mango and avocado and it was great - getting to customize your roll to exactly what you want is super nice too. The rice was perfectly cooked and the ingredients tasted fresh. Will be coming back soon!

This restaurant is all time. They custom-made a fantastic boat for the two of us at an unbelievable price. They use REAL fresh wasabi.

“This is one of our favorite restaurants.”
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The prices are reasonable. The taste is Americanized, but also has a nostalgic Japanese flavor.

“This is a great spot to eat outside when the weather is nice.”
This is a great spot to eat outside when the weather is nice. Really pleasant mixture of city and greenery vibes because of the park right next to Kai. I can’t recall the names of the sushi I ordered but I asked for the most popular rolls and selected two, really enjoyed myself.

“I loved this place, the outdoor sitting made it a whole new experiencr.”
I loved this place, the outdoor sitting made it a whole new experiencr! The o-toro and salmon belly nigiri outstanding! The lobster sushi was okay, although next time I'll ask for the creamy sauce on the side. The service was outstanding, was impressed that one guy was serving 5 tables at a time and being super eficiente and timely. Will come back soon!

“BEST SUSHI IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!”
BEST SUSHI IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!! This review is so grandly overdue!! On 21 January of this year, I experienced Kai for the first time. Ever since, I have ordered takeout from Kai at least three times weekly!! The food is fresh, beautiful, and plentiful!! The customer service is spectacular. Ploy, the chefs, and all of the workers simply blow all other sushi restaurant teams out of the ballpark!! AND THEY ALWAYS WRITE CUTE LITTLE NOTES TO ME ON THE PACKAGING!! I cannot offer enough divine words for this business. Roses are red, violets and blue, I love Kai Sushi, and you shall, too!!

“Very kind staff, tasty food.”
Very kind staff, tasty food. Small so good for single person or a couple but maybe not for a group. Service is fast. On a Thursday at 18h30 was received food under 15 minutes.

“Wow- what an amazing experience here.”
Wow- what an amazing experience here. All started from my 14th floor hotel room in the city. Looking for a small modest sushi bar. Boy was I happy making the walk. Quaint, homey, clean, with a sense of high quality. I sat at the bar and mentioned I was hungry. What do you know - heard the chef say “something something soup”. BAM, soup was delivered within 30 seconds. I started by ordering the sushi i always get, simple rolls, they were perfectly executed. I get to talking with the chef (Amraa) about fish and my low level understanding of fish - salmon, tuna haha. Couple minutes later he hands me a beautiful mackerel nigiri. Mackerel is fishy that is true but prepared this way I was mind blown. Took me out of my comfort zone and I appreciates that. In the end I felt at home chatting and trying new dishes. It’s a great feeling when you’re traveling alone I highly recommend this place for knowledgeable sushi chef with good quality at an amazing price in Chicago. Thanks to Amraa and the staff for a memorable delicious experience.
