“We had an amazing dinner at Bistro Campagne last night.”
We had an amazing dinner at Bistro Campagne last night! After watching a movie at the Davis Theater, we walked through the snow to this dimly lit and vibrant restaurant. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu and had onion soup and mussels for the first course; poulet roti and steak & fries for the second, and lastly, chocolate pudding and pain perdu for dessert. Having lived in Paris for a year, I can confidently say that the food was quite solid. The wine selection was great as well. I randomly chose a glass of red wine from the menu, and it was very aromatic and smooth. We enjoyed everything. Our server, Lucy, was superb. We will definitely come back!

“This bistro is a rare find.”
This bistro is a rare find. It's an enchanting, quiet little spot that feels like a true Parisian escape. It has all the elegance and luxury you could want, but without any of the stuffiness. The real highlight is the staff—they are the most humble, kind, and attentive people. You can tell they genuinely love to take care of you. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being a treasured guest. A truly special experience. We will be back!

“Dinner with reservation before a movie at Davis Theater.”
Dinner with reservation before a movie at Davis Theater. Had the French onion soup, Poulet Rotí Amish 1/2 Chicken without a lot of bones and flavorful mushroom cream sauce, would have liked more sauce with the large chicken breast to keep it moist. Couple glasses of wine and finished with the Pain Perdu bread pudding. Excellent attentive service! Multiple seating areas in & outside, front gated patio garden area will be lovely when it is warmer. Enjoyable dinner.

“Everything, EVERYTHING we ordered, was phenomenal.”
Everything, EVERYTHING we ordered, was phenomenal! From the cheeses to dessert. We tried each other dishes and were delighted with flavors and perfect seasoning. It’s hard to cook the birds where they are moist yet the duck and chicken dishes were top notch! Our waitress was a lovely lady in a pretty flowery dress. French country vibes. Cute ceiling lamps. Can’t wait to come back when it gets warm and get a table on the patio. PS: get a bottle of red wine and tartar appetizer. You will not regret it.

“One of my favorite meals of the year.”
One of my favorite meals of the year! There’s something to be said about French restaurants. The ambiance is elite, from a vibes and service perspective. We started with some drinks, I got a white wine (Foucher-Lebrun). Fantastic flavors and the dryness drove the drink. For appetizers, I enjoyed the French onion soup and thought the escargot stole the show. The presentation of it was superb, the snails tasted tender, and the oil/herbs complimented it better. The steak tartar was great, it had a modern spin to it. It wasn’t served traditionally with only the raw meat, it was served with multiple flavors such as mushrooms and chips. I was disappointed with the side dishes with ordering the ordering the mash potatoes and the mac and cheese. The texture of both was off-putting and the serving of them two could have been better. The steak frites were great, the meat was cooked well and tender. The fries were great as well. For desserts we really enjoyed the bread pudding and the basque cheesecake. The chocolate pudding dessert could be omitted for next time. Overall positive experience and would go back!

“I loved the intimate ambiance, great portions, and excellent drinks.”
I loved the intimate ambiance, great portions, and excellent drinks. Every time I go to a French restaurant, I walk away with a really good meal and an elite dining experience. Bistro Campagne was no different. The fortified wine was served like a glass of whiskey but tasted so much lighter. The escargot was very tender and served with oil and herbs and a baguette. We each got a French onion soup and it was hearty but nothing super special. The onions could’ve been cooked down even more. The steak tartare was creamy, served with mushrooms, and crusty chips, but not very traditional. I would’ve loved to just have the meat to let the flavors and beefiness shine without all of the additional flavors. Some who don’t want the raw meat taste may prefer this, though. The mac and cheese and the special potato side dish we got was a little underwhelming. Still tasty, but we’ve had better renditions of each elsewhere. I didn’t need the herbs to be all over the mac and cheese, and I thought it could’ve been creamier. I was hoping the potatoes would be something more bite sized instead of looking like a slice of pie (or cheesecake). The steak in the steak frites were cooked perfectly and the fries were a little soggy but the perfect texture and consistency. Next time I go back, I’d love to try the duck leg or the black cod. Too bad very few reviews mention either dish. The bread pudding was my favorite of the three desserts, but I enjoyed the basque cheesecake. Overall, this is an awesome date spot and the food and experience is really high quality.

Mmmm! So rich!!!! So delicious!!!!!! So flavorful & high-quality. We went for dinner and had a reservation. They sat us by a window near the courtyard, which had me daydreaming about sitting outside there someday. The ambiance was good - there was mood lighting & the space had a few sections/areas. Great cocktail list. We ordered the burrata-tomato bread and the chicken with toasty onions. We were both so full that we didn’t get dessert - im def gonna be back for it in the future.

“My wife and I got married at Bistro Campagne and it was such a magical, delicious time.”
My wife and I got married at Bistro Campagne and it was such a magical, delicious time. We held the ceremony and reception all at the restaurant on a Saturday morning for their brunch menu. Claire, the coordinator, was so helpful, always easy to talk to and responded quickly whenever we had questions, and our server Jane was so nice and attentive. The food was AMAZING. Our families couldn't stop talking about how great the food was, especially the bread pudding, steak, French onion soup, and Croque madame. The patio is a beautiful garden that makes you feel like you're not even in Chicago anymore. I would do the day over 10000x without any changes if I had to, it was perfect.

Absolutely fantastic! First warm spring eve of the year and we snagged an outdoor seat. Food was delicious and in good proportion. Service, atmosphere and setting superb. This was the experience we wanted at Bavette but never got.

“This was some of the best food I've ever had.”
This was some of the best food I've ever had! The baguette with the butters and garlic confit set the expectations high from the get go and every other dish after that was equally amazing. Definitely would recommend, I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Also just a really great attentive staff and a welcoming space.
