We lived in North Chicago seven years ago while my husband was stationed there. We came back to visit for our 10th wedding anniversary and this was a must on our list of places to eat. AND LET ME TELL YOU! IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! The food here is SO comforting and SO delicious. You can tell everything is made like they would make it for their family; you can FEEL that! If you're ever in North Chicago, Waukegan, or anywhere nearby, you need to visit. It's like coming home. I recommend the lumpia, caldereta, pork or chicken adobo, and ANY of the baked goods!! <3 Thank you guys for the wonderful meal!!!!

To my daughter's PT thank you for referring me to Pampanga Express on Washington St in Waukegan, ILLINOIS. they were just about to close and i asked if they had anything for my daughter who is in the hospital and got tired of hospital food. Nana behind the counter asked what happened?... after telling Nana what happened, she said "let's nurse her back health". I was so delighted with her thoughtfulness and kind words. On my way back to the hospital I mentioned my experience to my daughter at Pampanga Express... my daughter said, "when I get out and graduate I want to see Nana. Also mentioning, Nana served us her Pancit, pork adobo, balatong, and more than enough rice. We are definitely going back.

This is a carry out place though it states dine in. I wouldn't recommend dine in thought there seems to be a table. Even for a carry out this place looks and feels chaotic. Initially I wasn't sure if the building was a restaurant or not. But when I walked up to the counter, that changed. Process is simple and easy. There are a variety of prepared dishes you can pick 1 entree or 2 entree meal. Portion sizes are big. I asked to stop adding more! Very generous and the lady who serves us super sweet. My first time and I was allowed to try the different flavors. So yummy. I decided on the 2 entree - spicy beef and sour soup (pork belly). All very authentic and flavorful. The lady even gave me some of the soup on the side. Such delish packed meal for $11.99.

“The family that owns the place were friendly.”

The family that owns the place were friendly. I loved their lechon kawali and coconut chicken. Can’t wait to try the rest of their food. Their shanghai rolls were okay but not the best that I’ve tried. Definitely worth trying if you’re around the area.

The atmosphere is a little disjointed. By that I mean there's plants, packaged breads and bands instruments in the dining room. But the food is very delicious and all home made. Authentic Filipino food.

The food is delicious if you know what to order! The coconut chicken is my favorite with a side of ponset noodles with veggies and chopped up chicken! It's a must try.

“This is carry-out only.”

This is carry-out only. But the food is delicious and a good amount for the price. It looks like the menu changes daily (besides Wednesday where there is no menu as they're closed). It's a small business that hopefully can stay around.
