“The ambience alone makes me want to come back: Indian art objects decorate the walls setting a beautiful atmosphere. The staff is polite and efficient, the service is prompt. Large selection of domestic and imported spirits. The extensive menu features something for every palate. The food is delicious. And all at a very reasonable price. Definitely a restaurant I will go to again and again.”

“Everyone is so nice! Whether we dine in or get take out, it’s always hot and delicious.”

“The Essence of India serves amazing food! I love this restaurant, and in my opinion, it’s one of the best Indian restaurants in Chicago. We usually order vegetable biryani, vegetable korma curry, garlic naan, and samosas—everything is always delicious. The wine selection is good too. The owner is very welcoming, and the staff is friendly as well. Highly recommended!”

“Phenomenal service, great food and great location. Very fair prices and good bar selection. Will be returning!”

“I used to get take out from essence somewhat weekly. I love the food so much. However, they have raised the prices so much that it’s not worth $22+ for a small order of Tikka Masala with barely any chicken (doesn’t come with rice). I’ve switched to another local Indian restaurant that is equally as good in quality/taste and $5-6 cheaper and comes with a side of rice. My close friends are also devastated about this. In November 2024 it was $17.95, in January 2025 it was $19.15, and now the same dish is $22.99.”
“One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Chicago. The food has always been great, the staff friendly, and location in Lincoln Square is ideal. The prices are reasonable as well.”
“Fabulous don’t miss this place I had the Arachi Ghost. Lamb curry. One of the best I’ve had outside of the UK. Fantastic”
“I got the vegetable korma, medium spice (the levels are mild/medium/spicy), an order of naan, and a mango lassi. Everything was so delicious. The service was wonderful, very fast, and the prices were good. Highly recommend! Also, if you think this place looks familiar, it’s because Deli Boys used this restaurant as a set in season one!”
“My go to Indian food spot in Chicago. Always Friendly service on the phone and in person. Best chicken masala and naan I've tasted so far.”
