Honestly first time I've gone here and it was not busy . That was the quickest Torta Dinner I've ever recieved.
So good. They got really good carnitas. The salsa is also real good my favorite is the orange salsa.
Im a gringo as a gringo can get but I always feel at home at El Jefe. The staff is friendly and fast.
The carnistas are so good. Theyre michoacana style. So good. The cacauhaute (peanut) salsa is my favorite.

The tacos are decent, pero they need to step it up with the quality of the steak, it would be amazing if they would stay open till at least 10pm.
I tried this place twice.
This place is very new so I decided to order through UberEats and was not impressed with the steak tacos, steak was bland and tacos are small very little meat and little sprinkles of onions and cilantro and they didn't give limes with the tacos.

“What a cute place.”
What a cute place! The best carnitas we’ve had since moving to Chicago a year ago. Limited menu but you can buy all their meats by the pound. Taco plate was great, beans savory and delicious! Rice was outstanding too. Tacos come with either onions and cilantro or lettuce and tomatoes. Staff is friendly and attentive. Two salsas came with our meal, one red and mild, the other green and spicy and really good. Soda was in cans or bottles and surprisingly no chips! Plenty of parking!

No frills Mexican restaurant. Nice variety of food. My husband and I stopped in for lunch as we wanted to try this place since it opened recently. We shared a taco dinner and burrito. Everything was really good. The chicken had really nice flavor from the grill. Will definitely be back!

**Updated review 2-25-24** came in today to try the menudo and chicharron grueso/carnudo. Both are great, menudo nice and spicy. A little different from what we are used to but it was still so good. Came in to get some Barbacoa de Res to go. It has great taste and cooked perfectly. They have plenty of options and we will definitely be back to try the rest. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They were able to answer all the questions and they made recommendations. The restaurant is definitely up to date and they have a great selection of salsas!

Tacos were good and full of flavor. Staff were really friendly, especially our waitress. I had steak tacos and a coca-cola on this visit. I've had their horchata before which was so rich and flavorful. The place was clean and nicely decorated.

Honestly first time I've gone here and it was not busy . That was the quickest Torta Dinner I've ever recieved. Under 3 minutes and tasted delicious.

Im a gringo as a gringo can get but I always feel at home at El Jefe. The staff is friendly and fast. The pozole is AWSOME for a hang over and the biria tacos are fantastic. I frequent El Jefe at least 2-4 times a week and they never disappoint. The staff speaks English and are very courteous. The restaurant is clean and they have ample seating. If I could give 100 stars I would.

We just moved into the neighborhood so we decided to try them out. My husband and I both had the steak taco dinner and it was good and the salsa verde was delicious and spicy 😋 we are definitely going to order again.
