“Wow! Simply amazing. Shepherds Pie is to die for, I am not a fan of lamb. This preparation is going to change my mind. Bar tender was amazing, he definitely made my day. Definitely a must visit. Truly English place. Loved it.”

“Great place. We came in for a quick bite and we were surprised by the quality of the the food. The stake and fries were perfect for me. I asked for the stake to be cooked medium and it was as well as being perfectly seasoned . The friasea was tossed in a dressing. Very great attention to detail on that one. Fries were crisp as well. The chimi churi sauce was a great blend of salty and fat with a bit of spice. The fish and chips were spoton as well. The fish was flaky but had enough substance to it that you could eat it with a fork and has a bit of chew. Absolutely perfect.”

“I want to start off by saying the service was impeccable. Our server Victor was knowledgeable and attentive. We got the fish and chips and the steak frites. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly.”

“this place is absolutely fabulous. The food is amazing. I’m talking about really good quality and tasty food with just the right type of culture. You can have British food Indian Food mix. We had multiple people in the party. Everyone enjoyed.”

“My wife and I have become regulars here. Monarch & Lion has quickly become one of our favorite spots in Chicago. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy British pub and upscale cocktail bar, making it great whether you're stopping in for drinks or staying for dinner. The staff has always been welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which makes the experience feel personal every time. The cocktails are excellent, the food is consistently great, and the overall vibe feels both lively and comfortable without being overwhelming. What really makes the place great are the staff which have become like family. Thank you Mike, Jordan, Joey, Lupe, Adam, Chente, and everyone else for making us feel at home every time we come!”

“First time here. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We tried the prime rib sandwich, the fish tacos, the feta spinach mushroom omelette, and the chicken curry club sandwich. All of the food was delicious and great portions. Definitely a place to try!”

“Great little pub! If you like English food, this is a wonderful option. Authentic and delicious. Ambiance was so charming as well!”

“Came here for Chicago Restaurant Week and had a great experience overall. The 1000 Layer Potatoes were beautifully done, rich and crispy, with a luxurious truffle cream and Parmesan that really stood out. The Lamb Keema Shepherd’s Pie was comforting and flavorful, with well spiced lamb and a smooth buttery mash (also appreciated that it’s GF). The Truffle Mushroom Pie was another highlight, earthy and aromatic, with roasted oyster mushrooms, caramelized leeks, and just the right touch of truffle oil. Dessert was a strong finish. The Date Sticky Toffee Cake was warm and indulgent with vanilla ice cream, and the Crème brûlée was classic and well executed, with the mixed berry compote and fresh whipped cream adding a nice light contrast. Shout out to the chef for a thoughtfully curated Restaurant Week menu, and special thanks to Jordan, our server, who was attentive, welcoming, and made the experience even better. Overall, a solid Chicago Restaurant Week menu and a place I’d happily return to.”

“Elevated English pub vibes and food items. Our server was Allan and he was awesome. Very helpful when suggesting dishes and wine. He was also very attentive throughout the meal. The food was spectacular as well. We had the prime rib sandwich, mushroom and truffle pot pie, 1000 layer potato, Caesar salad, and sticky coffee cake.”

“I love how cozy and moody this restaurant is - great for a date night or girls night. It's also welcoming for children, with a pretty decent kids menu, which you don't always see at restaurants like this. The food was delicious and the drinks are a hit. I highly recommend this place, and be sure to ask for Alan. Best server ever!! He had great energy and recommendations.”

“This place is a gem. Really loved the food, and the service was top notch. Not a fan of the bangers portion of the bangers and mash, but the scotch egg and the fish and chips are so good. Our server steered us in the right direction with our meal and everything was amazing. If you ever get a chance to stop in definitely do so. Our server Allen was absolutely the best. If you have the option to have him as your server, I highly recommend you ask for him. Will be recommending this place to everyone I know!”
