mfk. Restaurant — Lincoln Park bar & grill that sets the standard. Romantic without trying too hard. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. Pj: "I loved the crispy fried eggplant, and the fresh tuna with the wrap was a great touch, almost like a taco"

Good but the seafood dishes are very pricey for the amount of food. The cauliflower is the best thing on the menu.

“Awesome spot, sat at the bar with great service.”
Awesome spot, sat at the bar with great service. Courses come in three rounds, which the kitchen times perfect. Each round gets better and better. Our courses 1) cantabrian anchovies: good, easy salty starter 2) croquetas de pollo: great, cooked perfectly to that crispy texture 3) Rabbit sweet potatoe Gnochi (special): The sauce that comes with these was absolutely fantastic, meat was tender and paired perfectly with the gnochi

“mfk is one of those rare spots that doesn’t seem like they try too hard—because it doesn’t have to.”
mfk is one of those rare spots that doesn’t seem like they try too hard—because it doesn’t have to. The bartenders run the small place with sharp knowledge and zero pretense, guiding you through food and drink like people who genuinely love both. You leave satisfied and already thinking about when you’re coming back.

“Lindsey really made this a 10/10 dining experience for me.”
Lindsey really made this a 10/10 dining experience for me! She had great recommendations and all of items were timed perfectly for me as a solo diner. My favorites were the anchovies with salted butter, shrimp gazpacho and tortilla espanola. The sangria was just strong enough and not overly sweet. They have a great wine list and I’ll try out some cocktails next time. In terms of ambiance, it’s a very small restaurant that’s perfect for a solo dinner or date night.

“FIDEO JUST GO GET THE FIDEO.”
FIDEO JUST GO GET THE FIDEO. But seriously that was unbelievably delicious and unique. Every piece of seafood was cooked to perfection. The cream sauce was rich without being heavy. The server was very knowledgeable about the food and liquor. My partner got a martini and said it was the best one he has ever had!! I love how quaint it is. You really feel like you're in someone's home. I highly recommend :)

“I rarely leave reviews but this is one of my top restaurants in Chicago after last night’s dinner.”
I rarely leave reviews but this is one of my top restaurants in Chicago after last night’s dinner. We ordered the Foie Gras tapa and Fideos pasta dish as well as the Cider Braised pork shoulder. Each dish was phenomenal and my tastebuds were so happy! Foie gras was buttery and delicious. The pasta had fresh shrimp, pork (however they roasted this had a perfect smoky flavor i don’t know how they did it), and mussels that were all cooked to perfection. Each protein in the dish had their own unique flavors balanced in harmony with a delectable saffron cream sauce. The pork shoulder (my boyfriend’s favorite dish of the night) was tender, umami, and slightly sweet from the cider/apple which I always welcome. Authentic cuisine from Basque Country of Spain, the Sangria was also impressive as well as the iconic basque cake <3 I know they have a rotating menu so I’m excited to stop here in the future to try new things but I secretly hope they keep all of the menu items we tried. There are only a few tables in the restaurant so the experience was very special. Service, meal, and ambiance 10/10.

“Great restaurant week experience.”
Great restaurant week experience. 4 courses for $60. I came here with my husband and parents. I asked about allergies before the meal and checked with the chef to confirm ingredients. Everything was seasoned very well. Great balance of salt and acid in the various courses. Cozy little space!

We visited for a friend’s birthday, and though the restaurant is small, it’s super cozy with a welcoming vibe. They rotate their menu every few weeks, so there’s always something new to try. I loved the crispy fried eggplant, and the fresh tuna with the wrap was a great touch, almost like a taco. A great spot with delicious food and a unique atmosphere!

“Our experience at MFK was absolutely delightful.”
Our experience at MFK was absolutely delightful! I hadn’t been here in about 8 years and still remembered how amazing the octopus was. While the octopus is no longer on the menu, everything we had this time was delicious. My friends and I have a monthly Supper Club where we try new places, and though I’d been here before, it was a first for them. When we arrived, our table wasn’t ready as the inside is quite small. However, the staff made up for it by seating us at a table outside and offering complimentary olives and bubbly. Such a nice touch, and it made for a great first impression! Once our table was ready, we headed inside to a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and very apologetic about the wait, which we really appreciated. We shared a few plates, and each one was better than the last. The maki tacos were yummy and packed with flavor, the scallops were perfectly cooked and delicious, and the ribs were so tender they melted in your mouth. The server even brought us red wine to pair with the ribs as a gesture for the earlier wait—talk about going above and beyond! Overall, MFK really impressed us. The service and food were exceptional, and the little extras made all the difference. I’ll definitely be coming back!

“Incredible taste of basque cuisine.”
Incredible taste of basque cuisine. A great mix of fresh seafood - highlighted by the gezpacho w/ scallops, capped off with pork belly and insanely tender ribs. I felt as though the selection of tapas was perfect in quantity since seemingly too many places have too large of a menu which dilutes quality and makes it harder to choose. And make sure to save room for the cake ;)

“Quaint little tapas restaurant with high quality ingredients.”
Quaint little tapas restaurant with high quality ingredients. Great local spot for a date night. Have been here a few times and the food is always delicious. Love the daily specials, including whole fish Friday. Usually pretty easy to get a table, or can sit at the bar. Would recommend the Spanish tortilla.
