D4 Irish Pub & Cafe — dependable bar & grill in Streeterville. It wears its years well. Cocktail menu runs deeper than expected, and handles groups well.

“My wife had the chicken pot pie and it was also excellent and clearly homemade”
Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else.
This is sadly the last time I will be eating here.

“Edit: Added a few more pictures from our 3rd visit.”
Edit: Added a few more pictures from our 3rd visit. :-) We love the atmosphere in this place. Beautiful bar, tiled floor, lights, wrought iron scroll work, fireplace, etc. There may be TVs, for those in your group that like to keep up on sports, but the volume was not on (or at least not noticeable), which I appreciated. This was the 1st time that I had lunch here. The Reuben was fantastic and so was the tossed salad. Highly recommended. My daughter had the pulled pork and shoestring fries and loved it. Highly recommended. We both had a drink from the bar which were fantastic. I would say it was the best drink I have had, very well balanced. I had the HUGO SPRITZ and my daughter a mocktail. We highly recommend this place! Since our 1st visit in September, we have now been back 2 more times, bringing our significant others. (They loved it as much as we did.)

“This restaurant made a great dinner place while I was in Chicago.”
This restaurant made a great dinner place while I was in Chicago. We went there for a business dinner and even with a large group, the service was fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect and the food was tasty. If you’re going with a large group I would recommend making a reservation beforehand, but no matter what, the service here is top notch. Our waitress was Juliana and she went above and beyond to provide us great service while we were there. Definitely worth going!

“If you're a Buffalo wing fan, this is the place to be in Chicago.”
If you're a Buffalo wing fan, this is the place to be in Chicago. 12 Jumbo wings for $20 on football game days (incl. CFB). More than enough for a really big eater. They come breaded, juicy, and saucy, and I ask for extra sauce. They also come with plenty of celery and Carrots and a sauce that tastes like 70% ranch 30% blue cheese. Incredible. Regular price is 8 for $18. They also have a 5 beer bucket for $20. That + the wings and you reach Valhalla

“This was the best food we had all week while in Chicago.”
This was the best food we had all week while in Chicago! After trying to find a restaurant without an hour wait we popped in D4 on a whim and were seated immediately. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was way bigger than I anticipated and delicious. The rest of my table was very pleased with the nachos, burger, salads, and cocktails. One interesting thing we learned that night are most Chicago wait staff won't do more then 3 checks per table because "its inconvenient." Without prompt our waiter brought one check, for 6 people, who each required their own check for records purposes. He refused to do 6 checks (even with no split orders) so he had management come spend about 45 seconds to do our 6 checks. We would love to go back, but next time we will just sit at two different tables, because what's the difference?

“D4 Irish Pub was our choice for a family get together meal prior to our boat ride.”
D4 Irish Pub was our choice for a family get together meal prior to our boat ride. Our server, Jordan, couldn’t do enough for us from the moment we sat down. The menu has some great selections and some Irish classics. (Get the cheese curds!). The meal and atmosphere were perfect, and Jordan was so happy when we finally ordered shots ! D4 is highly recommended.

“Came here for dinner before a show.”
Came here for dinner before a show. We had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grown Up Grilled Cheese, both served with fries, and I had Sauvignon Blanc to drink. The environment has a cozy, warm feel with a fireplace burning close by to our table which was nice to have when we visited as it was cool and raining. The staff were friendly and very attentive without seeming overbearing. Stopping by occasionally to make sure that everything was still fine and seeing what they could to assist. Service was also relatively quick as it only seemed to take about 5 to 10 minutes for our food to arrive. The Pulled Pork had good flavor and was very well done. I enjoyed the housemade sauce and the chipotle slaw was a nice addition. This on a brioche roll was a way to truly please this visitor. The Grilled Cheese also had a lot going for it with a few minor missteps. The presentation was lovely, short of the Grilled Cheese appearing as two halves stacked on top of each other which almost made it seem as if it were a club sandwich. This would lead to the sandwich being a bit damp where both bread slices met in the stack, as well as the bottom slice. A blend of three cheeses: gruyere, Irish cheddar, and smoked gouda in between two slices of sourdough is already off to a tasty start. The arugula was nice and refreshing if not for being put on a little heavy-handed. Along with that the tomato jam was very good and could have been used a bit more to help balance the overall flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would recommend checking this place out if you happen to be in the area. An could even be worth a walk around the north side of the city.
