Almendro Cafe is a cozy Hyde Park neighborhood gem for authentic, affordable bites—regulars rave about the empanadas, molletes, tamales, breakfast burritos, avocado toast, and standout chai latte. Set inside an art center near the Metra, its comfortable seating, strong Wi‑Fi, and friendly service suit coffee dates, meetups, or focused work, though service can occasionally be slow and coffee quality inconsistent.

Got the molletes and drip coffee. Great start to the day. Very comfortable leather seating. Great customer service. In the same space as the art center so you can get your desayunito and your arte together. If they had merch I would snap up a hoodie with that cute lil bull logo on it lol 🐂

I was coming here for years when it was bridgeport coffee. I havent tasted the coffee yet but the music stream is dropping out and breaking up so much i want to put headphones on. Feels wrong to play music and force people to listen to it when it dont work. Kinda glad bridgeport gone. The couch is nice. Sleeve too big for cup. Coffee is bit watery. Could be a 4 or 5 but ads playing on radio. Zero for bad design. Employees made avacado toast vegan and it was good and low cost. Would come back based on this and the fact employees are nice. Owner needs to improve otherwise.

I came in, on a rainy day. No one greeted me. I was unsure of what I wanted, so I settled for a Matcha frappe, made with oatmilk. This IS NOT a Matcha frappe. I buy pure ground Matcha so I'm not new to the product. While my drink is being made I ask to use the restroom, and I was told it was in the corner. Since Ive never been here, I went to the corner of the restaurant. It wasn't there. I walk back towards the front and there it was on the opposite side of the kitchen area. NOT A CORNER. I asked the Hispanic girl to open the restroom, and she gave me a funky glare, and quickly straightened up her face. Very rude, very unprofessional, and the Matcha was NOT IT!!! Being rude and nasty, and the beverage horrible.

Got the spinach and egg burrito and los tamales for my son. Both were way better than we expected! Definitely real food and quite good.

Absolutely amazing food. The price is right. The drinks are delicious. Right around the corner, from my job. Couldn't ask for a better spot. Very authentic and delicious. The staff was extremely helpful. Also restrooms on site.
