Daebak Korean BBQ — Noble Square korean where the Banchan sets the tone. Expect noise, energy, and a full house. Warm, genuine service throughout. Well-priced, handles groups well. Ellen Choi: "The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food was incredible" [$$]

we placed a reservation for 8:30 and we arrived a bit early and waiting until our table was supposed to be ready at 8:30. we waited a little longer for them to get the table which was no big deal. once we got there, there was no plate and utensils for someone in our party and there was a bunch of food on the floor from the previous guests that we had to ask to be cleaned up. additionally, we had to ask the staff multiple times for the other plate and utensils until we got them and they weren’t super kind about it. we are muslim and therefore don’t eat pork so there were only two combo options for us to eat and one soup. that obviously wasn’t a problem because that’s our dietary restriction not the restaurants fault. anyway, we ended up ordering the beef combo 2, gold package, supposed to be for 3-4 ppl (4 in our party). so, we have been to korean bbq many times and every times it’s always an all you can eat. our fault for not checking— but we assumed because of the 140$ price that it would be an all you can eat. nothing confirming or denying it was on the menu, and we had to ask multiple people how it worked before getting a real answer. so, we ordered and a bit after the server gave us our sides, turned the stove on and gave us our three meats. each meat was a pretty small portion (relative to what we’ve eaten before at kbbq) and the sides were all minimal too. we couldn’t order any one thing more even if we really liked it, without ordering a whole new combo for $140. our server put the first meat (brisket) on the stove and began cooking it for us, to which after a minute we told him we could do it ourselves and after not responding for a few seconds, he dropped the tongs and left. we continued cooking the meat and subsequent meats and ate as we went, along with the sides. a little while later, the soup arrived which was also pretty bad. it was mainly large pieces of tofu in a salty broth. overall, the food was.. okay. it was good quality meat, but pretty small portions. the soup wasnt great and we didn’t really care for any of the sides too much and even if we did, there would probably only be enough to feed one person. we came pretty hungry and left pretty disappointed, and still a little hungry. overall, from what we experienced, the food wasn’t anything amazing (maybe the pork dishes are why it’s popular but who knows), the service also wasnt great. it was pretty but that doesn’t really do much when everything else wasn’t nice. wouldn’t come back. i’d recommend going to iron age across the street where i’ve been before— better food, better price, better service in my opinion.

We visited this place on a weekend evening with high expectations after seeing great reviews. We’re visiting from another city and even struggled to find parking nearby. However, when we finally arrived, we were told they don't accept any walk-ins at all and only take guests with reservations. Even worse, we couldn't even put our names on a waitlist. I tried to book a table the day before, but the system required credit card info. Since we were traveling, we weren't sure about our exact timing, so we didn't want to risk it. There was no mention on Google Maps that walk-ins are strictly prohibited. It was a huge letdown for our family. If you don't have a firm reservation, don't even bother coming.
