Much better dine-in than takeout. I tried delivery once and it was soggy, but eating it fresh in the shop is amazing—the crispy cracker stays super crunchy and the wrap is really satisfying. Highly recommend the crispy chicken cutlet jianbing; the crab stick one is great too. Tip: eat it right away for the best texture. 5/5 (as long as you dine-in or eat immediately).

First time having Jianbing and really enjoyed it. Nice to try something different. I don’t have anything to compare it to, but it was fresh and delicious. Parking in front of the restaurant is difficult (4 spots) but there should be street parking nearby.

Monkey King Jianbing is located at Dempster and McCormick of Skokie. It is a small perfect short time dine-in and to-go delicious Chinese street food inspire breakfast and lunch meals! I was recommended by a close friend to try out their egg sandwiches. So I ordered their Meat Floss and Beef Hot Dog Jianbing egg sandwich wrap. The wrap is made out of an egg batter which is then wrap around in layers of lettuce, possibly a deep fried crunchy wonton, pork meat floss, a hot dog, and drizzled sauces with a choice of either spicy or no spicy and sweet and savory sauce. Their menu offers more from small appetizers such as crab rangoon and dumplings to desserts! 09.12.2025

Wow! Kind of like a crepe, but also not like one at all, this Chinese street food is tasty, soft, crunchy, umami, filling and delicious. A kind of Chinese street food egg pancake crepe frittata - surprising & delicious. Monkey King is very difficult to find (a small space the end of a nondescript hallway in a nondescript mall), but more than worth the hunt! You must go immediately. Oh, and there’s nowhere really to sit 🙈

Great place and food, waaay better Jianbing than the one in Union Station. They also give disposable gloves, very thoughtful! I recommend the fried chicken and the meat floss hotdog. Price is cheap too. Slightly hot in the summer if you plan to dine in.

Great casual spot for authentic Chinese "burritos" (jian bing). I got the triple egg and shrimp with spice. It was very fresh and the burrito/jianbing was very large and filling. The shrimp were nicely fried and the spice wasn't too hot but had an awesome peppercorn flavor.

Wow. Get the ham and crab jian bing. It is outstanding. All the textures in one bite. Tender, crunchy, chewy, warm. Total mouthful. The veg is fresh, not droopy. It's made to order and ready fast. If you have to eat and go, they even give you a disposable glove. Fantastic.

Amazing!!! Stopped by for a tasty, quick, healthy & fresh breakfast— a must try!! I got the chocolate bubble waffle, egg & cheese crisp cake & Thai iced tea. The service is prompt & the girl who works there is always friendly, tentative & quick. I got my fresh breakfast in under 10 mins— such a great alternative to fast food! & Such an amazing value as well, I spent $20 and was satisfied until dinner time! Can’t wait to try their matcha waffle !!

sooo delicious! took the ~30 minute trip from the city and it was very much worth the drive. my partner ordered the triple egg and fried shrimp jianbing, I ordered the fried chicken jianbing, and we shared a lemonade and salted egg yolk waffle. everything came out hot and crispy, portions were huge, and we left full and satisfied - with leftovers! the provided gloves were appreciated since it didn’t look like they had a bathroom for public use to wash your hands afterwards. my only tip would be that the “little spicy” option tasted close to no spice, so it seems like more spicy would be a safe bet for anyone interested. we would make the trip again anytime!!
