“I’ve been coming here for a long time… and somehow never wrote a review. This place has always been one of my favorites. Nothing fancy, just good, honest bakery food at a price that still feels right. Cash only just so you know. The siu mai is what I always come back for. Simple, but so good. Came back again today, and it brought back the same feeling. After so many years, it’s still here… and still in my memory. Some places don’t need to change.”

“The second location of Chicago’s oldest Chinese bakery never disappoints! Argyle is lucky to have its very own Chiu Quon; you can find so many savory and sweet options at this Chicago classic. This bakery is always busy, but lines move fast, and it’s solely a takeout spot. Also, keep in mind that they’re cash only. Pretty much every item is under $3.00, so it’s a good place to sample a lot. There is so much to try, but we just got their most popular items for our first visit. The Portuguese egg tart was light and flaky, and the custard filling was creamy and not too sweet. I loved the massive sesame ball, which is much larger than pictures depict. It was filled with hot red bean paste and had the perfect, stretchy consistency. Last but not least, the famous BBQ pork buns were just as delicious as everyone says. The pork was sweet and had a nice, smoky flavor while the bread itself was super fluffy and soft. Chiu Quon is a Chicago staple for good reason. Head to Argyle early for some of the best Chinese style pastries!”

“I was a little surprised that this Chinese-style bakery was so close to my local bakery, despite being so far away. The flavors are familiar and unique and the prices are reasonable. There' re many bread and cake types to choose. I especially like the bread with the barbecue pork.”

“Headed here after having lunch at ‘Tank Noodle’ and got a couple egg tarts and baos but they’ve got a pretty good selection. They’ve got pastries, cookies, small cakes, muffins, egg rolls, zong zi and more. Lady that picks out food for customers is super friendly and don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any. Great place for a sweet treat after a meal. Location is great being right next to the Argyle train station too.”

“Classic Chinese bakery -- most items about $2 which is a steal! Cash only. Huge selection. To-go only.”

“Ordered a custom round strawberry cake for a bridal shower and it turned out beautifully!!”

“Great little bakery with reasonable price. Not many bakery in the neighborhood.”

“We live near the area and my children and I had passed this bakery a few times and this time decided to give it a try. We saw they had moon cakes and my kids were excited to try them so I ended up buying the mini ones and a few other things like the butter cookies, and the apple and pineapple bun or tart. I can't remember what they call it. The first negative thing- the lady gave me moon cakes from a tray on top of her counter instead of the nice fresher looking ones that were in her case. 2. She overcharged me an extra dollar because she though I wasn't paying attention since my kids were being kids and I had to keep them under control. Talk about sneaky!. 4. She didn't pack my pastries well, putting the buns and moon cakes together making the puff pastry buns to crumble on the way home. And last but not least the flavor of the pastries for the price charged was definitely not worth it. The butter cookies were bland and the apple and pineapple filled pastries tasted like pork! Disgusting! . We're definitely not going back to this bakery. To whomever likes the things there, always pay attention to what you're being charged for.!”
“Authentic cantonese pastries, and also love their steamed cheung fun. Their nian gao and radish cake are good too.”
