I stopped by Loaf Lounge in Chicago and was seriously impressed. I ordered their smoked cured salmon on house-made marble rye, topped with herby cream cheese, capers, red pickled onions, thinly sliced cucumbers, and roe — and wow. Every flavor came together beautifully. It was light, fresh, and incredibly well-balanced. The cream cheese and capers complemented the salmon perfectly, while the roe added a subtle pop of briny richness. The house-made marble rye was an elegant choice of bread — soft yet sturdy, with just the right depth of flavor to tie everything together. For dessert, I had their famous chocolate cake, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The cake was very moist and slightly dense, exactly how a great chocolate cake should be. The icing was rich, flavorful, and sweet without being overpowering. Just a really solid, satisfying chocolate cake from start to finish. Loaf Lounge delivers both finesse and comfort in one stop. Definitely a place I’d come back to.

I came because they make the famous chocolate cake seen in The Bear. I also got their breakfast sandwich which was very good with the sautéed veggies and herby mayo that added great flavor, and the egg was perfectly runny. The hash brown was crispy and very similar to a McDonald’s hash brown. For dessert, I obviously got the cake. It was dense and rich without being overwhelming. It wasn’t overly sweet thanks to the dark chocolate. The frosting was excellent and balanced the whole thing nicely.

“Sausage egg and cheese was delicious.”

Sausage egg and cheese was delicious! The vibe was great but I was surprised by how busy it was. Would've loved to read a book while I drank my cappuccino but there is limited seating. Staff was fantastic and quick to get out drinks and food. Will need to add a hash brown to my sandwich and try out the cocktails next time.

I am a first time visitor today, and will definitely be back to check out more of the menu here. Today I ordered the “Claudio” sandwich, which was quite tasty. With artichoke, solid, radicchio, olives, turkey pepperoni, pepperonata and provolone, on beautifully grilled country bread, the Mediterranean flavors shine throughout. And it’s a healthy choice. Also check out the pastries here. Everything looks good, this spot is clean and the staff is helpful. 💯

Sausage egg and cheese, with the hash brown and hot sauce, gas. 9/10, I’d rank it just below Allez as my fav Chicago b sammy. On its own very good but not my fav, definitely needed the extras. I wish I had some jam for it that really would have added some extra flair but overall I’d return. Also had a pastry, the plum jam morning bun, it was good but it was just ok nothing to rave about. Matcha was good but could’ve been whisked a bit longer as it was still a little grainy.

“WE LOVE LOAF LOUNGE.”

WE LOVE LOAF LOUNGE! We have been visiting the loaf lounge for a few years as our neighborhood spot for breakfast, lunch, and desserts and often bring out of town guests here too! So when we were getting married, we knew we wanted them to be a part of our special day! We are grateful to Loaf Lounge for doing our wedding cake “The Bear” cake specifically and we did a Pittsburgh cookie table that was a hit at the wedding as Loaf Lounge has the best cookies! I have eaten here on two occasions when coming home to Chicago, once inside and once outside. Both experiences were great. Connor, the sous chef, made suggestions for vegetarian options and to modify dishes for my tastes. The menu has many interesting and flavorful taste combinations. There are amazing bakery options including rotating loaves of bread. Currently there is a vegan blueberry scone on the menu. The beverage offerings include extensive coffee and tea options, cocktails, beer, wine, soda and kombucha. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Loaf Lounge for a great food and beverage experience in a casual setting. I can’t wait to go back the next time I am in town.

I went here on a rainy Wednesday morning, so it wasn’t very busy. I got the sausage egg and cheese on their homemade English muffin and it was possibly the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had! From the fresh bread, to the runny egg, the flavorful juicy sausage, to the herby mayo, it was PERFECTION! The crunchy hash brown on the side made it the perfect pair. I got a lavender matcha and it was okay. I’ll go for the coffee next time. Friendly staff and clean atmosphere. I can’t wait to try their other bread and pastries!
