“Me encantó la comida deliciosa!! Atención increíble 10/10”

“As expected the food was phenomenal. Complex, innovative flavors, and high quality. But the main reason for the review was the excellent service that was attentive, welcoming, and not overbearing. Augustus was one of the best servers we’ve had anywhere and made the evening that much more special. Look forward to returning in the future.”

“The whole duck is a worthwhile experience and cannot wait till I’m back to do it again. Service was also excellent. Thank you for having us!”

“I had a truly wonderful experience dining at Boka. I made a reservation for my birthday and was seated behind the bar in a cozy booth. It was equally lively and private, and gave us the ability to look over the bar and restaurant, which has a great vibe. What stood out immediately was the level of service. It was absolutely outstanding. Everyone was extremely attentive and warm, while being very knowledgeable and professional. While waiting to be seated, I had one cocktail, the You Go Glenn Cocoa. It had the classic vibes of a tiki drink (I’m a sucker for a tiki drink) but with rye instead of rum and with a little spice of something extra from the ginger and honeysuckle. It was well balanced, with crushed ice that melted slowly and elevated the drink, instead of over diluting. When I order a cocktail, I want it to last a while and taste good the entire time. This absolutely nailed it. Once the food began to arrive, I was impressed not only by the food itself, but by the pacing. Every dish came out exactly when I felt I was ready for it, and nothing was rushed. We had just enough time in between courses and never felt like we were left waiting. All 8 courses were timed perfectly. The pillowy soft potato bread and butter course provided a perfect rest in between the more intense flavors. The wine pairings were perfect and Fernando, our server, was the best of the best. I’ve dined in Chicago for over 14 years and can say this first meal at Boka was an incredible, stand out experience. I can’t wait to return to order off the main dinner menu and try more cocktails.”

“An absolutely beautiful and personalized experience for our anniversary dinner! The staff went above and beyond with a custom menu and dessert. Excellent service, atmosphere and cuisine.”

“Could not have asked for a better experience here. The service and food were all impeccable. Every dish that I tried was complex and packed with different flavors. If you are looking for a very high quality meal with reasonable prices for a star, this it it.”

“An incredible dining experience and a wonderful space to host an intimate wedding ceremony and or reception! This culinary experience has a lovely outdoor patio for intimate ceremonies and a modern and unique interior for small wedding receptions. The food is impeccable and completely unique, something your guess will be talking about for years to come! PC Expedition Joy”

“A “normal” restaurant with a Michelin star. Nice service, creative dishes, but very approachable and doesn’t have all of stuffiness of Michelin star restaurants. The mains are the true stars here, the best version you can possibly make of chicken breast, duck, short rib, etc. cool vibe, great drinks. Worth it”

“I brought my fiance here to celebrate her birthday, the staff was so welcoming and wished her a happy Birthday as we arrived. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings- each course felt really special and was delicious! We really enjoyed the pairings also. They even personalized the menu for my finances birthday and they saved the menu for her as a keepsake. They also brought her out a special birthday dessert in addition to the ones on the tasting menu. This was an expensive outing but it felt absolutely worth it , it was an experience we will remember. The only slight critique is the atmosphere is a bit noisier than I would have expected, I guess with the exposed brick and high ceilings that’s just a side effect that’s unavoidable. There was also an extremely drunk guest there when we arrived who almost certainly had to be trashed when she arrived since she was just receiving first course, she was very loud and turning heads. Obviously that’s a difficult situation for the staff because it would be pretty awkward to ask somebody to leave (or refuse them entry) but it’s definitely not ideal having loud drunks in an environment like this.”

“We had an absolutely spectacular experience celebrating my friend’s birthday while she was visiting Chicago from Korea and every detail reminded us exactly why this restaurant holds its star. The food was delicious and beautifully presented but what truly elevated the evening was the exceptional service. Our server was an incredible help - expert in guiding us through the menu and helping us choose fantastic mocktails and non-alcoholic wine pairings. Combined with the refined atmosphere and a thoughtful special birthday dessert for the guest of honor, it was an unforgettable world-class dining experience! I would visit again in the near future to celebrate another special day with loved ones!”

“Dining at Boka is an exercise in sublime culinary execution, offering a gastronomic journey that pairs magnificently with a robust, jammy red wine. The savory progression was highlighted by an impeccably prepared duck, which proved to be a masterclass in textural contrast boasting a flawlessly rendered, shatteringly crisp exterior that gave way to profoundly succulent and utterly delicious meat. The preceding plates, beautifully captured in your attached were equally masterful, featuring pillowy gnocchi draped in delicate shaved parmesan and a vibrantly fresh raw fish presentation. Yet, the undisputed triumph of the evening and my absolute favorite by far was the transcendent interplay of the ethereal strawberry foam and the bright, tart rhubarb sorbet, providing a flawlessly balanced and palate-awakening highlight to a truly stellar meal.”

“Boka has been a Chicago staple since opening in 2003, earning a Michelin star and becoming one of the city’s most celebrated restaurants. Led by Chef Lee Wolen, whose cooking is refined yet approachable, the menu blends creativity with comforting flavors in a way that feels effortless. Boka — very hip, polished, and completely on point. The atmosphere is laid back with dimmed lighting and eclectic decor that gives the space a cool, modern energy without feeling overly formal. Surprisingly kid-friendly too, with coloring books and simple options for children, which made the experience even better. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant was bustling with fun energy and a stylish local crowd. Favorite dishes: • Hokkaido scallops • Tuna tartare • Char • Truffle chicken • Walnut chocolate cake Overall, Boka strikes the perfect balance between elevated dining and a warm, welcoming atmosphere — the kind of place that feels equally suited for a special night out or a relaxed dinner with family and friends.”
