Bistro Campagne — high-caliber french in Lincoln Square. The kind of room you save for someone special. The cocktail program is serious. "The main entries taste great- chicken is juicy and tender and I really like the crispy skin of the trout" — Luna Z [$$, patio]

☀️Patio — a Lincoln Square classic in summer.

We had Zoe as our server who was very pleasant and professional. For an appetizer we had escargot and I had the trout and my husband had the salmon. It was very delicious and the sauce was amazing. This is a cozy romantic French bistro that truly transported us to beautiful memories of Bordeaux. It is a special treat to dine there.

We’re so luck to have this absolute gem of a restaurant in our neighborhood. We’ve been dining here for over 15 years. Everything is always amazing and delicious but the cassoulet is a favorite. Love the amazing selection of French wines. Also love that we’ve seen the same staff members around for many years; tells me that people are valued and treated well; yet another good reason to spend our money here.

We had an amazing dinner at Bistro Campagne last night! After watching a movie at the Davis Theater, we walked through the snow to this dimly lit and vibrant restaurant. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu and had onion soup and mussels for the first course; poulet roti and steak & fries for the second, and lastly, chocolate pudding and pain perdu for dessert. Having lived in Paris for a year, I can confidently say that the food was quite solid. The wine selection was great as well. I randomly chose a glass of red wine from the menu, and it was very aromatic and smooth. We enjoyed everything. Our server, Lucy, was superb. We will definitely come back!

This bistro is a rare find. It's an enchanting, quiet little spot that feels like a true Parisian escape. It has all the elegance and luxury you could want, but without any of the stuffiness. The real highlight is the staff—they are the most humble, kind, and attentive people. You can tell they genuinely love to take care of you. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being a treasured guest. A truly special experience. We will be back!

As part of a special occasion, we decided to try Bistro Campagne for dinner. We started with the Steak Tartare and French Onion Soup, both of which were pretty good. I ordered the Truite Amandine with the Gratin de Macaroni and Pleurotes, and everything I had tasted good. Unfortunately, others in my group were less impressed with their meals. On top of that, the service fell short of expectations for a restaurant at this level, as our server was not very attentive. Overall, it was a mixed experience. It was not negative, but it was not as memorable as we had hoped.

A charming French spot with a cozy outdoor patio that feels like a lovely escape. While the food was generally satisfying, there were some inconsistencies in execution. Highlights from our visits include the steak tartare, chicken liver pâté, and the pleurotes mushroom side - a flavorful showstopper despite being just a side! The escargot was solid and on par with other spots we’ve tried. On the other hand, the poached scallop felt muddled with too many competing flavors, and the steak frites had well flavored/textured steak but fries that were soft and soggy. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot for atmosphere and a leisurely meal, though the vibe outshines the food quality from our visits.

Not sure how we’ve been in Chicago for 14 years and just found this place! Got the muscles to start which were excellent, more lemon flavor forward but also had a lighter butter/garlic/herb base which was great for scooping with the muscles and dipping the bread. We also split the chicken and the steak and frites - both were delicious! Olivia was our server and did a great job of recommending wine to go with all dishes. Perfect date night and we will make sure to not let another 14 years go by before eating there again!

My wife and I have been wanting to dine here for sometime. We finally made it and loved every minute. First, our server Lucy was wonderful. It’s amazing how much a good server adds to the experience. It was Wednesday so we tried the prix fixe menu. The mussel appetizer was a meal by itself and was delicious. I especially appreciated the warm mini-baguette for dipping into the broth. My wife had the asparagus leek soup which was just as good. She had the chicken with mushroom ragout as her main. I had the salmon with English peas. We shared and couldn’t decide which was better. Both were great. We closed with the pot de chocolate and bread pudding. At $48 pp it was a great value. We splurged on a Bordeaux that Lucy recommended. I would go back just for the wine. Looking forward to a return trip soon to try more of their menu. Highly recommended.
