“One thing that is kind of silly is that when looking at the menu, it seems like it makes more financial sense to order certain sandwiches with toppings that effectively make them another sandwich”

“Stumbled upon a hidden gem in Chicago — Spoke & Bird.”
Stumbled upon a hidden gem in Chicago — Spoke & Bird! Tried their grit bowl and it hit the spot — savory, hearty, and full of flavor. I also grabbed an iced spiced latte, which was delicious but had me feeling like I was sipping a chai latte with a cinnamon red-hot tucked in my cheek (not mad about it, just surprised!). It’s a beautiful day here in Chicago, and I seriously wish I could teleport y’all to enjoy it with me. 🌞✨

I've been coming here regularly ever since I discovered this place about three months ago, and it’s become one of my favorite spots. But today stood out in a special way—thanks to Hope. Her customer service was beyond exceptional. She greeted me with such kindness and sincerity that it genuinely made me smile and warmed my soul. You could feel the authenticity in her words and the way she carries herself—it’s not just a job to her. When she looked at me and said, "You deserve it," I believed her. And in that moment, I felt warm and confident. Thank you, Hope, for making my day a little more hopeful. Your name fits you perfectly. ☺️

I went with a bunch of friends to get some brunch. I ordered the Egg Sandwich and I substituted the ham for bacon. The sandwich tasted amazing and I enjoyed the company of my friends. Definitely worth the price.

“Service was outstanding for the type of restaurant that this is.”
Service was outstanding for the type of restaurant that this is. It was no menu, party first. I am beginning to get annoyed like many other Americans that the Covid practice of pushing a credit card machine in front of our face and saying “I need you to answer a couple of questions.” In places where you pay before toy eat needs to cease. Other than that: The staff was friendly. The food was good. The drinks were good. The dining room of the Restaurant was a little chilly. Hopefully it gets warmer. The bottom line I would go here again. I also would recommend it to friends

“In mid-September, we met friends here for a nice outdoor lunch in the South Loop area.”
In mid-September, we met friends here for a nice outdoor lunch in the South Loop area. Just east of their storefront there’s a spacious patio with lots of tables and umbrellas. They have indoor seating, too. Outdoors, you order at a little kiosk, and they being the food to the tables. We had several local beers and crafted cocktails. Mine was a well-made whiskey drink off their changing menu. We enjoyed a large fresh salad, a tasty chicken wrap, a juicy smash-burger, and a thick and satisfying tomato soup with a grilled cheese. They sometimes have events, too, like movie nights. Service was welcoming and quick. A very pleasant experience!

“I stopped in while traveling and I'm so glad I did.”
I stopped in while traveling and I'm so glad I did! This place is special (as the crowd of locals exhibited). I had a drip coffee, which was a delicious, savory roast. To eat, I had a seasonal Grits bowl with turkey sausage. It came with a nicely sauteed zucchini and mushroom blend. It really hit the spot after a night of rowdy fun. Seating is outdoors, very pleasant, with sparrows hopping around the tables, and a few shady trees. Also a little sign gives a little compliment!

“This is a very nice cafe in a beautiful part of historic Chicago that is well worth a visit.”
This is a very nice cafe in a beautiful part of historic Chicago that is well worth a visit. I went here for a quick lunch during a convention just to tide me over until dinner and the sandwich was exceptional. The bread was toasted lightly, but not overly toasted, just enough to give a good crunchy mouth feel that went great with the tomato bisque soup. One thing that is kind of silly is that when looking at the menu, it seems like it makes more financial sense to order certain sandwiches with toppings that effectively make them another sandwich. For example my wife wanted a BLT but we were able to sasve $7 by her ordering a grilled cheese sandwich and adding bacon and tomato. I'm sure this type of thing happens and it kind of makes the menu more confusing than I think it really needs to be. Anyways, the sandwiches were great and the soup was nice and creamy. Overall the food was good, but not terribly filling, which was good since I was only stopping here to tide myself over until dinner time. Would recommend for the atmosphere and how close it is to parks!

“Awesome spot for a small breakfast.”
Awesome spot for a small breakfast. The bagels came with basically an entire tubs-worth of cream cheese, it was crazy. The coffee was amazing, had the cappuccino and honey cinnamon latte both were excellent. They have rotating seasonal flavors and features on the menu too. Seating was a little awkward it’s tight, but we sat outside on the patio and they even brought our food out to us as we moved outside. Very kind and not crazy expensive either

“Food is great especially for a breakfast place.”
Food is great especially for a breakfast place. It's kind of weird because it's like a counter like at starbucks, but it's in this building's entrance. I had the chai tea and it was delicious. You can get the BLT or the breakfast turkey sandwich without hesitating.
