The Polo Inn — Bridgeport american that sets the standard. Old-school in the best sense, with zero pretense. Honest, uncompromised flavors throughout. Handles groups well. Jon Frolick: "We savoured the Polo Inn's hospitality for a week"

“Absolutely amazing.”
Absolutely amazing! Best place to go if you’re looking for a full stomach and the Holy Spirit, workers are so kind and check up on you often. Menu has so many great options, the building itself holds a nostalgic feeling to it, great stop during our way home from a trip to Chicago with friends!

“This is a neighborhood gem.”
This is a neighborhood gem. Always evolving with the times and has been a cornerstone of South Morgan Street for decades. I used to work here as a teenager and the consistency in the food preparation is just as strong as it ever was. (Rent Hoodlum when you have a chance and look for the scene where the restaurant was reimagined for the film.) Everything was flavorful and well-portioned. The walls are adorned with photos that brought back so many memories of good times and friends. This will always be a great place to go for any meal. It is bolstered by the adjoining banquet hall and has wonderful rooms for a bed and breakfast style getaway within the city limits. Be sure to check out the amazing place that Chef/Owner Dave Samber has maintained since 1985. It is and always will be "Something different. Something wonderful."

“The Polo Inn is a great local place to relax and have a delicious meal.”
The Polo Inn is a great local place to relax and have a delicious meal. We always get the salmon dinner because it is so excellent. It is always very moist and delicious! The soups are outstanding, too. And service is always top notch here. Definitely recommend it! The decor and architectural details of this restaurant makes you feel like you have taken a step back in time to old Chicago with the charm of days gone by. Last time we were here on a Friday night we were treated to a violin concert by a fellow diner, and even the owner started singing Christmas carols!

“Came here for Sunday Gospel Brunch with a friend.”
Came here for Sunday Gospel Brunch with a friend. What a special treat! Food and service were excellent (I got today's special and my friend got the combo prix fixe) but the cherry was definitely the gospel music. Chef has a wonderful voice and it was so heart-warming hearing him sing blessings over the diners and the community. His sincerity and peace definitely shined through. Definitely coming back!

“I found this place trying to get back to the Southside during the Chicago marathon.”
I found this place trying to get back to the Southside during the Chicago marathon. The detour sent me right pass this delightful little spot so I stopped to try it and I'm glad I did. I don't even like French toast traditionally, but that creme brulee french toast is incredible and the bacon are legit adult slices. The services is also topnotch, attentive but not hovering and the owner (who 3leveb sang a couple of tunes at gospel brunch) greeted each table. Would definitely go back to see what dinner is like.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the internet just so you know we have two different cities in Chicago..”
Ladies and gentlemen of the internet just so you know we have two different cities in Chicago... There is the north side and there is the south side. In my opinion one is not better than the other but truly they are distinctly different. As a note... we also have the west side but it is comprised of bits of both the north and the south for the most part. I attended a jazz concert in the banquet hall at the Polo Inn and was pretty much totally unprepared for what I ended up being blessed to experience. Perfect service, perfect food, amazingly beautiful room and everything tended to with delicate and highly skilled care. This institution offers the very best aspects of both the north side of Chicago and the south side of Chicago and is a unifying force in this city and represents the very best that we have to offer. Highest praise for this institution. Period.

“Have been for both brunch and dinner.”
Have been for both brunch and dinner. The food is fabulous, prices reasonable, service excellent. I highly recommend. Gospel brunch with the organist and an eggs benedicto procession are especially memorable for brunch.

“We recently stayed at the Polo Inn Bed and Breakfast.”
We recently stayed at the Polo Inn Bed and Breakfast. They took very good care of us. It was a nice suite of rooms and while it was only my daughter and me it could have comfortably slept a family. The breakfast was a delight. The French toast was out of this world. And the eggs and hash browns were delicious. On Sundays the Polo Inn Restaurant has a great gospel brunch. Not to be missed!! Thank you to Dave for such a great experience. Next time we are in Bridgeport we will be sure to stay with you!

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was amazing. It was my first trip to downtown town Chicago and I decided to give this place a try. From the research my crew did, I believe the building was built in 1929 and was originally a bank that never opened due to the depression. Don’t expect a 5 star hotel. Do expect a piece of Chicago history. The owner is extremely hospitable. My flight and rental was running late. He waited on the street curb with his wonderful dog to welcome us. My only regret is my schedule prevented me from eating dinner there. If it is anything like breakfast, I missed out. Private parking next to it(which is rare in the city). Lyft and uber drivers everywhere. The longest we waited was 8 minutes.
