“Straight-up diner, inclusive counter seats. Good food and friendly people.”

“We were in the area from out of town and needed a spot for breakfast on Father’s Day. The place was packed but we got a table immediately. Food was great, server was funny, and it was the perfect busy diner vibe. Loved it!”

“Very fast service and kind straight to the point staff! Stopped in as I had a class cancelled last minute and I’d already come over here and was not disappointed. I hope to come back soon 🫶😌”

“Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. A true hidden gem. Highly recommend for the food, ambiance and service. The owner, daughter and the entire family are amazing.”

“Great food and great service. Had the Mediterranean Skillet. Basically a steak skillet but the flavor of the steak and quanity was excellent. I sat at the counter and had great conversation with the man at the register. If Georges was a bar, it would make you feel like you were at the Cheers bar”

“The diner has an immense menu. If you are looking for the best place to have brunch, this is the place to be. We had a triple meat lover and el rancho burrito; they were both amazing and satiating. I definitely recommend this gem in Oak Park.”

“This is my second time having breakfast here. Their skillet was tasty. The coffe was good. Didn't taste burnt like other places. It was busy at the time I was there, but food was served promptly.”

“Rating: (2 out of 5) George’s Family Restaurant – Oak Park, IL Today’s visit to George’s Family Restaurant was disappointing, to say the least. While the restaurant wasn’t packed, it took about 15 minutes just to get a waitress to our table. We overlooked the delay because we were in a good mood—celebrating some happy family news—and wanted to enjoy a moment together. Unfortunately, what followed echoed many of the negative reviews we wish we had read beforehand. We ordered a kid’s meal and a basic pancake breakfast—something that should’ve cost about $26 total. Instead, we were charged nearly $37, and with tip, it landed around $45–$46 for a meal for two kids. The food itself was average—not terrible, but definitely not worth that price tag. Where things really went left was at the register. The older man who rang us up never reviewed the bill or gave a total—just swiped and moved on. When I politely asked for a breakdown, the woman who stepped in grew visibly angry, shaking while responding and dismissive about the overcharges. When I pointed out that we were charged for a drink that wasn’t ordered (my child only had water), she said “nobody told me that” and brushed it off. When I asked for a corrected bill, she loudly said, “Just take it out of my tip,” clearly irritated that I was questioning the charges—despite the fact that I had tipped generously. It was an unnecessarily hostile interaction, especially in front of my kids. I remained calm and respectful the entire time, but the energy from the staff was anything but welcoming. It felt like if you’re not a known regular, you’re treated with suspicion or disregard. This experience left a sour taste—no pun intended. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to out-of-towners or anyone who values customer service. If you do decide to visit, double-check your bill. There’s too much confusion and too little accountability here.”
“Food is great, skillet portions are big! My kids love their pancakes!”
“All hail George's! An old school diner that Oak Park is otherwise lacking. Affordable and tasty meals, nice servers, and they deserve better than for OP to tear up the street out front and deter guests with no end in sight. Just take a little further walk to get around the construction and support them. Miles away more impressive than Breakfast House.”
