Ghin Khao Eat Rice — among the best thai in Pilsen. The kind of spot that earns loyalty, not hype. Not your typical menu, in a good way, and BYOB. "The focus is on grilled marinated meats, flavorful starters, and salads loaded with fresh herbs and spices" — Nik-nik Achanzar

Service is good but the food is not up to the mark.. Rice in Fried rice wasnt cooked well..
Terrible service waited for an hour and a half for two unseasoned bowls of fried vegetables and rice.

Ghin Khao is a charming Thai spot with a casual semi self serve setup. The menu is compact yet thoughtful, and everything we ordered hit the mark: the chicken satay was deliciously nutty, the shrimp salad bright and refreshing with a nice kick of spice, and the pad kee mao comforting and well balanced. The grandma’s pork belly was a standout - crispy, fragrant, and indulgent without being overly fatty. The service was incredibly warm & friendly that further elevated our visit. Easily one of the most memorable and cozy Thai food spots in town, and we’d love to return soon.

Dont ignore this tiny Thai restaurant from the exterior look, neighbourhood if you are craving for authentic Thai food, the taste makes it all up No wonder why they made it to the list of Michelin recommended restaurants in 2020-21. Still I would not order the Satay Chicken, but rest on their menu sets a new bar for all other Thai food joints in town

“Before I went here I already knew that I liked Thai food quite a bit, but it wasn't quite my favorite cuisine.”
Before I went here I already knew that I liked Thai food quite a bit, but it wasn't quite my favorite cuisine. Going here made me change my mind and fall in love with thai cuisine in general. The papaya salad is a great combo of fresh veggies with a great kick of spice and umami at the end. The larb gai is my benchmark for other Thai restaurants, and so far none have come close. The pad kee mao has the best noodles in terms of chew and char. I seriously can't get enough of this place and it's always a treat to get it when I'm in the area. God bless the chef that's in the back especially since each time I've been here they were running solo. 5 stars please never close down.

“We went for a Friday dinner and there was only chef working so everything was a bit slow.”
We went for a Friday dinner and there was only chef working so everything was a bit slow. However, the food was phenomenal. The som tum was authentic: not too sweet like other spots I have tried. It was refreshingly tart and fragrant from the kumquat. The larb gai was also excellent with all the flavors very well-balanced. Pad kee mao had a great char and the delectable smoky wok hei. The texture of the noodles definitely elevated this dish: thin yet possessing such a satisfying chew. Definitely get their khao soi special if they have it! It's one of the best that the city has to offer.

“Food was hands down delicious.”
Food was hands down delicious. Menu was short which was nice. Got the papaya salad, pork belly, curry fried rice and pad siew. All were very flavorful and satisfying. We all highly enjoyed the pork belly - very crispy and delicious. It is a bit of a hole in the wall. The ambiance feels like Asian street food style- hand made signs, murals, self serve water and utensils. We bussed our own table after the meal in the gray bins like some cafes. It's just one server/cashier and one chef so depending on how busy things are you may have to wait a bit. It was BYOB (we noticed from another table).

“It's a hybrid service restaurant, which is awesome.”
It's a hybrid service restaurant, which is awesome. You grab your own utensils and cups and water. Later, the server comes to take your order. It's dope, I didn't think I would like this set up but I did. The food is beyond delicious, it's incredibly fresh and seasoned so well. I highly recommend you check it out.

“This place is amazing - it's cozy and small but we did not wait long to be seated and get served.”
This place is amazing - it's cozy and small but we did not wait long to be seated and get served. Be warned, there's a heavy aura of spices in the air - my GF was crying half the time we were here because there's so much pepper in the air. However, the food was good. Their Pork Belly was good but in my opinion a little overrated - I didn't feel like it was the star of the show, their fried rice on the other hand was amazing. Their curry fried rice had so much flavor in every bite and the next time I come back I will be getting that. The lady that served and seated us was very kind too, we had a good time here. Would come back

“I have ordered delivery from this place three times, every single time it bombs.”
I have ordered delivery from this place three times, every single time it bombs. The crab fried rice, pork belly, pork shoulder, the fish cake and the krapow Gai are all so good. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Have to dine in one day!

“Wow- what a great unassuming Thai restaurant in the heart of Pilsen.”
Wow- what a great unassuming Thai restaurant in the heart of Pilsen! The food was amazing, service is attentive, and they have takeout/delivery. I’m going to be back soon and highly recommend here for a taste of Thai. We got the Thai fried rice, Pad Kee Mao (with shrimp, so delicious) and Pork belly with JAEW dipping sauce

“My home away from home.”
My home away from home. I absolutely love this place. We have felt so welcomed since the first time we came. The food is on another level of flavor. I had my first ever Tom ka soup from here and it literally makes my body melt. The blend of flavors is so unique and hits the spot every time. The krapow gai is unbelievable too especially paired with the crab fried rice. The Thai basil really shines through. I miss living in the city and being able to have this every month but now I savor every moment I get to come here.

“This place is fantastic.”
This place is fantastic. Seriously. A real hole in the wall. Probably the best Thai food in all of Chicago.. maybe even Illinois... Maybe even miles and miles from here. I can't stop talking about how great this place was. I found it randomly and have pretty much been a regular here. Their food is amazing, flavorful, and distinct. It's not your regular Thai place. I definitely need to order more things here, but everything has been great so far. The fried tofu was a treat. The grandma's pork belly was insane, I need the recipe. The thai fried rice is my favorite fried rice in the city. And the pad siew noodles with chicken or shrimp is delicious. My girlfriend and I can't stop eating here and I hope this review helps you discover and eat here too.
