“Came here on a fly because I wanted some jerk and I let 8pm creep up on me and most places were closed. Took a look at some Google reviews for this spot and all the reviews were positive. So I took the drive and when I arrived it was the atmosphere for me!!!! I felt like I had been transported to Jamaica and was on vacation on a Sunday night. The music was jamming, the customers service felt like family, drinks were real drinks, but the star of the show was the authenticity of the food!!!! It was absolutely delicious!!!! I had a full course Jerk Chicken Meal with cabbage, rice and peas and some tequila all for the decent price of about $40 with 15% tip!!!! Look they got real authentic Jamaican food and Normal Prices y’all. Some of these other places charging an arm an a leg for just the food and it lacks authenticity. Plus you’re definitely not getting an alcoholic drink included in that price! I also saw that they serve chicken pumpkin soup and festival…. You dam near gotta know somebody from the islands to get that dish so I was blown away when the man next to me ordered it. I can’t wait to go back to try some more menu items and bring my girls for Karaoke Friday. I really enjoyed myself!!! This is a hidden gem if you don’t know now you know!!!”

“Beautiful decor, amazing music , awesome customer service and food was on point ! I will definitely be returning here this place is awesome. Pricing vs portion size ratio was very accurate as well.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A Jamaican Experience I’ll Never Forget I’ve eaten a lot of food in my life, but this experience was on another level. The jerk chicken was fresh, flavorful, juicy, and packed with authentic taste. Every bite reminded me why great food is more than a meal, it’s an experience. The macaroni and cheese was easily the best I’ve ever had. I’m not exaggerating when I say my first bite almost brought a tear to my eye. That’s how good it was. The Rasta pasta with shrimp and chicken was incredible. Rich, creamy, and full of flavor. For a moment, I felt like I was sitting on a beach in Jamaica enjoying a homemade meal prepared with love and pride. The escovitch red snapper was unforgettable. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and worth every mile traveled to experience it. It was the type of dish that makes you slow down and appreciate every bite. The homemade jerk sauce deserves its own recognition. You can tell it wasn’t made from a bottle, it was crafted with care, tradition, and authenticity. By the way Thanks for making me a personal bottle of your homemade jerk sauce! What truly completed the experience was the hospitality. The owner and staff made me feel welcomed from the moment I walked in. Great food gets people through the door, but great people make them come back. I’m all the way from Indiana, and I can honestly say this was the best Jamaican food experience I’ve ever had. Matter of fact, after this meal, I’m ready to book a trip to Jamaica and go straight to the source. Quote: “Some meals fill your stomach. The rare ones feed your soul. This wasn’t just Jamaican food, it was a passport stamped with flavor, culture, and hospitality.” 🇯🇲🔥🍽️”

“I love Jamaican food! I used to go to Good to Go in Evanston, but sadly it got shut down due to fire. I was so happy when I found nearby Jamaican restaurant. I stopped at Shattaz for dinner one day and ordered curry goat! Oh my goodness! The food tasted authentic and so much flavor! I also love the different hot pepper sauces and the dark Jamaican sauce provided. I came back soon after and tried the oxtail. I felt like I was in heaven!l. Came back the third time. The food was addicting, sooooo good!!!”

“Wow... this place right here has the best Jamaican food I tasted outside my trip to Jamaica. It was fresh, hot, authentic, and on point! I am from California visiting Chicago with my momma and my son. If I ever get to come back to Chicago I'm coming for the mac and cheese, cabbage, oxtails, brown stew chicken, and another rum punch..yummy delicious. They have a full bar, dine in, and fantastic service.”

“This place deserves more attention! The food was so flavorful. The service was excellent. The owner was super sweet. The music was bussin. I encourage everyone to dine in. It has only been open for 7 months. Let’s get this place the attention it deserves! I wish I got more photos of our food. But me and my Dad wasted no time being big backs lol. 12/10 experience”

“Staff was very helpful... food was 🔥🔥🔥🔥... traveled over a hour and a half... was very worth the drive... Will take that drive again.”

“All the way from Minnesota!!! Valentines day weekend 💕 !!! LOVE THE FOOD”

“This place is definitely a go to destination. The food is delicious, the restaurant is large, open/airy, clean, good music and overall atmosphere. I got the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. Every single thing I ate was amazing. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. Also, huge bonus is its BYOB AND has a full bar!! Like what??? I will most certainly be back here.”

“Had the Rasta Pasta 4/5 spicy, and it was fantastic. Side of candied yams was a really nice contrast to the heat of the dish. Shane the owner was warm & welcoming,Tiffany our server was delightful and they both made great recommendations. I live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back! And now I have been back! Once again had the Rasta Pasta and this time the chef told me that they kicked the spice level up and it was out of this world delicious! Opted for the cabbage this time and agree with other reviews here, it’s a must order! Love Shattaz!!”
