I absolutely loved my plate the fried chicken, didn’t like much the Curry, it needed to be a bit spicy and more flavor, it felt a little bland but still not bad

Same Same is one of those rare neighborhood gems that manages to feel both homey and transportive. Nestled in Roscoe Village, it delivers the kind of Thai food that reminds you why comfort and craftsmanship don't have to compete. Same Same doesn't shout for your attention, it earns it through flavor and feeling. Their house made curries are the clear standout, silky, aromatic and layered with spices that reveal themselves slowly, like a story being told one chapter at a time. Every bite feels thoughtful and intentional, balancing heat, sweetness, and depth in a way that feels authentically Thai but unmistakably their own. The back patio deserves its own applause. It's a quiet, candlelit escape that turns an ordinary meal into something almost cinematic. Perfect for date nights, long talks or solo dinners where you just want good food and your own thoughts. A definite gem!

The My Thai Slushy and Phat Kaphrao were amazing! Al fresco dining in the front and back.

Tried Same Same for takeout the first time and was blown away—had to come back for dine-in. The Kao Soi is an absolute standout: rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pork belly rice is just as impressive—crispy, tender, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re grabbing takeout or sitting down for a meal, Same Same delivers.

The drinks at this restaurant are absolutely fantastic, perfectly complementing the delicious food! Among my personal favorites are the mango sticky rice, with its sweet and creamy coconut sauce, and the pork belly fried rice (khao phat muu krob), which features perfectly crispy pork and aromatic jasmine rice. You truly can't go wrong with any of the dishes here; each one is crafted with care and bursts with authentic flavors. It's definitely worth giving this place a try, and I'm confident you won’t regret it! This restaurant has firmly secured its spot on my go-to list for Thai food in Chicago!

I ate here with a group of my friends a while back and I’ve been eager to return. The spiced fries are delicious and the portion is perfect. I brought my wife here and she loved it!

The food was fresh, the rice was a little soggy, there wasn’t a lot of food because the takeout container was only half full for $17 per dish. The vegetables were too hard for me and the cucumbers were sliced really thick so I had to really bite through it. The sauce was spicy even though it didn’t say it was spicy so I suffered eating it. So if you like spicy food that’s not labeled spicy and you’re OK with the food portion, then this is a good place to go. The tofu was fried just right and it tasted good but there wasn’t enough of it. They have a nice patio in the back.

The vibes in here are very modern Thai. Super loud and hard to hear, but cool vibes. Seems like they are short staffed during busy times with only one bar tender, one server, and cooks in the back. The dining area is small, and there was always a line at the door but it goes by quickly. Maybe a 10-15 min wait on weekends. The food was pretty good, just wish the service was better!

Solid Thai food - I enjoyed the basil chicken rice and the fried chicken., though the menu felt a bit limited and didn’t feature many unique Thai dishes. The restaurant has a funky interior and added a fun vibe to the dining experience.

Food was pretty okay. We sat at the bar and the bartender was pretty cool and attentive. Gave me a new drink when the one I initially got was way too strong. We got the Thai fried chicken with fries. Fries were amazing, chicken was pretty okay. The pad se ew was also okay. Not the best, but this wasn’t a traditional Thai spot so I’m not surprised. I’m not sure if I would be back. The food was just okay.

Got delivery from here and sadly it was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. The Khao Soi was super bland with no spice. The soft noodles were alright but the crunchy noodles were soggy. The Phat Kee Mao was not as bad as the Khao Soi but it was too savory. The only flavor I got was that umami but it was overdone. The veggies and noddles were just fine. Overall, just no complexity in the dishes and the flavor that was there wasn’t enjoyable.

The Viet style fried chicken was solid and the service was good, but that's about all the positives. I ordered the neua nám tok and it came with the driest "sticky" rice known to man. We mentioned it to our waitress and asked for just plain rice instead and was met with somehow even drier and burnt rice from the bottom of the pot. The flank steak itself was overcooked for my liking while having no char at all. The greens and the house dressing at least were tasty I guess. For cocktails, the My Thai slushy was decent, but the Thai Tea-ni tasted more like a standard espresso martini.
