Salam Restaurant — straightforward middle eastern in Albany Park. The cooking is rooted in real tradition. Friendly without hovering. "The chicken was perfectly cooked, the hummus was creamy and had just the right amount of spice to it" — Mike Diem

“The falafel remains the best, perfect blend of spices, made to order, and never greasy”
Arab restaurants must develop. Food is not served this way. Have you ever seen meat served without a knife.
WARNING: There was a rusted nail in my food!!

“Been my go to place for years.”
Been my go to place for years. Their tabouleh is cruchy and fresh. The hummus is better than noon O kabab’s lol. Salam’s hummus is of superior consistency, smooth and not grainy. Honestly I find their hummus better than the one I had in Israel. Salaam’s hummis is very similar to the one I had in Bethlehem (West Bank). Their kifta is great. The shawarma is on the salty side. Recently I had a craving for some mansaf since I just got back from Jordan and have it too.

So i was passing through when I saw the restaurant and immediately drove into the parking. I went in and was greeted by the man behind the counter “ noor”. I had the ful with pita bread and it took me 8 years back to the day when i first had this dish. And it didn’t disappoint. So I am definitely going to come back here with my friends and try their other dishes too. noor offered me the baklava and that too was very delicious!

“Salam Restaurant in Albany Park on Kedzie is the neighborhood go-to spot for a quick and delicious lunch.”
Salam Restaurant in Albany Park on Kedzie is the neighborhood go-to spot for a quick and delicious lunch. The restaurant is super clean, the staff is always friendly, and the food is fresh and reasonably priced. I drove in from the suburbs on a cold Chicago day just for their famous lentil soup and a shawarma sandwich — both hit the spot. They also have a long selection of fresh pastries and Middle Eastern desserts to finish your meal. Located in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country, Salam is a gem in Chicago dining. Whether you’re craving authentic Middle Eastern food, Mediterranean flavors, or just want a cozy spot for lunch in Albany Park, this place is absolutely worth the drive.

“Honestly, one of the best middle eastern food places i’ve tried around chicago.”
Honestly, one of the best middle eastern food places i’ve tried around chicago. They have the rotating shawarma rotisserie which makes the shawarma very authentic and close to home. I tried the chicken shawarma and it was delicious. The hummus with the beef shawarma on top was crazy good. We also had the fried kibbeh, falafel and stuffed grape leaves and they was amazing.

“In a neighborhood full of Persian/Middle Eastern food options, this is the one you want.”
In a neighborhood full of Persian/Middle Eastern food options, this is the one you want. The food is always great, the menu is deep, the speed is fast—and most notably, the service is the best. I work down the street and I’ve been eating lunch here for over 7 years, at least a few times a month. That’s like hundreds of visits and they’ve all been flawless. Also you can order direct from their website, cutting out the middleman, and keeping the money in the neighborhood. Salam is the joint!

“Today we got the hummus, baba ganoush, chicken shawarma plate and the meat arayes.”
Today we got the hummus, baba ganoush, chicken shawarma plate and the meat arayes. The arayes was life changing and we have ordered the shawarma dozens of time for takeout and it is amazing fresh and left over (get the garlic sauce!!) They have a great drink selection as well. The people working are always so nice and Noor was extra helpful today.

“This isn’t my first time dining at Salam’s, and every visit has been fantastic.”
This isn’t my first time dining at Salam’s, and every visit has been fantastic. The food is consistently delicious, and this time I ordered the Lamb Mansaf, which was tender. The service was fast, and the staff were very friendly. If you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend ordering ahead. Overall, a great experience!
