Me and my coworkers had the pleasure of going to beat Nick on the river and it was fantastic. When you first walked in it was very colorful. After you take a turn down a hall and then down some steps it kind of feels like it’s a speakeasy. Then when you go downstairs, it opens up to what feels like a beautifully enchanting riverfront view that is wonderfully decorated. We decided our table for about 17 minutes before the server noticed us and brought us water. Which seemed a little bit off. Not sure what was going on. They took our order and we got a hummus dip and the baba ghanoush. It was fantastic. We also got the salmon and Crudo, which was a phenomenal. I got pictures of all of that however, when our food came, I forgot to take photos so I’ll just tell you. I got the ceviche. It was flavorful but a very small portion. One of my coworkers got a lamb skewer and said it was great one of my coworkers got the kale salad and she loved it. She said the salmon was wonderful. One of my coworkers got the short rib and I had a bite. The short rib was great, but oh my God the sweet potatoes were so memorable if I go again, I would definitely be getting that.

Hear me out. Most places that are popular for their beautiful scenery or atmosphere tend to miss on the quality of their food, it’s never a hit on both scenery and food quality. However, this restaurant not only had the most beautiful interior and view of the river, but the food tasted delicious. My mom, sister, and I each got our own plates and I tried some food from their plates and every bite was truly delicious. We got the salmon eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy, and rib eye hash: 10/10!!! In addition, we went Jan 3 so it was definitely very cold outside, and the cold leaks into the restaurant because we are close to the windows. But the Beatnik would give bursts of heat that was perfect and would keep you warm, I wasn’t cold at all. Drinks at the bar were also delish, bartender was very funny!

Loved the atmosphere, we sat on the tables right near the window for the river view, beautiful to look out on. Service was friendly and attentive, food came out quickly. Portions are "european style", meaning you will be full but may not not take home leftovers. Loved both their sweet & savory options!

Truly One of Chicago’s Most Magical Dining Experiences Beatnik On The River is absolutely stunning — from the moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into a dreamy, bohemian oasis right on the water. The atmosphere is unforgettable: beautiful décor, gorgeous river views, and the perfect mix of music and energy. The food is incredible! Every dish is packed with flavor and creativity. The Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences shine through in the best way. The cocktails are just as impressive — unique, refreshing, and beautifully presented. Beatnik on the River is absolutely stunning! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere takes your breath away — the décor, music, and river views create such a vibrant, relaxed vibe. The food was phenomenal, full of flavor and beautifully plated, and the cocktails were perfectly crafted. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. I can’t wait to come back — truly one of the best dining spots in the city!

Beatnik on the River feels like you’ve stepped into another world—lush, vibrant, and full of character. The space is drenched in greenery and flowers cascading from the ceiling, blending perfectly with the river view outside. Every corner has its own mood, from the cozy candlelit interiors to the airy glass-lined patio that overlooks the water. It’s eclectic without feeling overdone, and somehow manages to be both relaxing and energizing at the same time. Perfect spot to unwind, grab a drink, and just soak in the atmosphere.

What a place. Great decor and view of the river. The waiter is a pro, memeorising 15 orders and making recommendations at the same time. Drinks were good and the dishes are flavorful. You need to make reservations as afterwork hours are very busy here. 8 of us were here and we ordered a bunch of things to share which worked out great.

Beatnik by the River is all about the vibe! Sitting by the water feels amazing, especially if you can grab an outdoor table. The food is great! The octopus and hummus was a standout dish, unique and full of flavor, and the chicken musakhan was a delicious twist on a classic. The harissa shrimp added a nice kick, and the cheese flan was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. It does get pretty busy, so expect a bit of a crowd, but the service was solid. You're definitely paying for the atmosphere here, but it's worth it for a night out that feels special.

The most amazing restaurant by the Riverwalk! Seriously, all the dishes that we had in our tiny little event were applauded by our guests. Starting from the Mezze Platter on which most of my guests ordered for a repeat, to the Tuna Ceviche and Octopus & Hummus were phenomenal, to the Short Rib that left my guests speechless. Literally everyone praised how nice the restaurant decor is with a riverfront view. Shout out to Meghan and to Michael for the best service. Will surely be back!

Exceptional Meal and Service, Especially for an Allergy! We stopped in for lunch without a reservation and were happily seated at the bar. The atmosphere was great and our bartender provided wonderful service. I have a serious turmeric allergy, and I was so impressed with how carefully they handled it. The bartender wrote up a detailed allergy slip for the kitchen, and I truly appreciated their dedication to preventing cross-contamination. It allowed me to relax and enjoy my meal completely.And what a meal it was! The Chicken Musakhan: was an absolute delight—perfectly balanced with citrus, savory, and herbaceous notes. The Za'atar Fries: were wonderfully seasoned and came with a delicious sauce. The Tuna Steak Sandwich: was a standout. The tuna was cooked to perfection (not tough at all) and it was a filling, flavorful dish. A truly fantastic experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back!
