Kim's Home Cooking — high-caliber korean in Albany Park. It has that lived-in, been-here-forever warmth. The food tastes like it should, with no compromises. Family-run. Samir Katta: "The pork wasn’t as spicy as the chicken but was tender and flavorful"

“Tteok bok ki is a favorite of mine but I prefer a more simpler version of just sauce and rice cakes”
Unfortunately I can't review the food, only the terrible service.
Water cup- had a fly (how did it get there.
“Visited on two separate occasions.”
Visited on two separate occasions. Both experiences were great. Authentic Korean food at very reasonable prices. Sides were great as well. Highly recommend their kimchi stew.

“The food is really good here.”
The food is really good here! I got the bulgogi kimbap and hot stone pot bibimbap. Everything was delicious and the people working there were very nice. The only minor con I have is I'm used to having more traditional ingredients in my kimbap like carrots, spinach, meat, eggs, yellow radish but they used lettuce and I think beets. It was still very good though!

“What a lovely, hidden gem.”
What a lovely, hidden gem! Delicious Korean food with lots of flavor and good portions. Would recommend the sweet garlic chicken wings, bulgogi kimbap, and the bibimbap.

“I stopped by this place on a whim after eating nearby, and I'm so glad I did.”
I stopped by this place on a whim after eating nearby, and I'm so glad I did. I was craving kimchi jeon, and theirs was absolutely incredible—easily one of the best (if not the best) I’ve ever had, including during the year I spent living in Seoul. Perfectly crisp, not greasy, and packed with flavor. The Ajumma at the counter was warm and kind, and her limited English somehow added to the charm and authenticity of the experience. The food tastes genuinely homemade. I’ve also tried the chicken kalbi, which was fantastic. Bonus points for the extra spicy sauce they’ll give you if you ask—seriously spicy and seriously good.

“This is one of my favorite places to come eat at.”
This is one of my favorite places to come eat at. Each time I come to Chicago, I will come here a couple days straight. The food is made fresh. Great portion sizes. Food flavorful. The owner is always friendly. This is what home cooking is like.

“Knew this wouldn’t taste as good since it was delivery but it was great.”
Knew this wouldn’t taste as good since it was delivery but it was great. The KFC was a tad soggy but still had a good crunch from the breading and was juicy. The spicy sauce with it wasn’t spicy but was flavorful. The banchan was fine, really only liked the bean sprouts and cucumbers. The chicken galbi lowkey had some heat but was juicy just like the wings. Veggies with it were solid too and plenty of liquid to soak up the massive amount of rice. The pork wasn’t as spicy as the chicken but was tender and flavorful. Ordered again the following week but got the beef bulgogi and tteok bok ki. Beef was sweet but not my favorite bulgogi. Tteok bok ki is a favorite of mine but I prefer a more simpler version of just sauce and rice cakes.

“I will admit that Kim’s is my favorite restaurant in the city.”
I will admit that Kim’s is my favorite restaurant in the city. It is Korean comfort food at its finest. It’s not elevated, and there are no modern spins. But it is truly a gem that every time leaves me indescribably happy. The spicy chicken wings are truly some of the best wings you can get in Chicago with a sauce that is indeed finger licking good. Bibimbap, pancakes, bulgogi, rice cakes, all top tier. Special consideration for the freshness and balance of acidity and sweetness in their banchan.

“I love the food so much.”
I love the food so much. The side dishes were well prepared. The kimbap was great with a balance of meat and veggies. I love the soup: Doenjang-jjigae. It’s a nice meal in this cozy winter. Overall, I’d recommend for a home cooking korean food.

“Kim’s home cooking is low key the best Korean restaurant in Chicago.”
Kim’s home cooking is low key the best Korean restaurant in Chicago! The side dishes are all fresh! I will say the spicy vegetable pork dish was as good as it was in Korea! And the spicy chicken wings are amazing here! If you get a chance check Kim’s home cooking out! You will not be disappointed! On a side note there is free parking so it makes it even better!
