“I guess ever since Covid they decided to keep it carry out Only, which is fine with me because then we don’t have to dine in and tip the waiter or waitress and you get the food that you want and eat it at home. They have a lot of great deals and especially for lunch specials. Please see the menu as you can get a nice lunch meal for $10 which is perfect for students and non-students as well. I always find Asian food to be facing me healthy options if you want to be good to your diet habits. There is no parking lot but it’s on the street and you have to pay the Park Chicago app or on the little kiosk with your credit card. The only gripe I have is that I hate it when they not the bag so tight it takes me 15 minutes to open it, and it hurts my fingers and then sometimes if I have to cut it with a scissor, I have to waste the plastic bag which I would rather use at least a few times or for garbage because I don’t like plastic bags to be wasted because it’s bad for the environment. Please do the knot where You can undo it with just one bow pulled. Thank you. Food was hot and yummy!”

“Decent amount of portion for dinner. I order katsudon. It comes with miso soup and salad.”

“I feel bad giving this place 3 stars, but our food was very bad. We ordered a few different sushi rolls and it might be some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The rice was overseasoned, with some bites having a shocking amount of rice vinegar. The taste of rice vinegar lingered in my mouth long after we had finished eating. The rice was also overcooked, leading it to be mushy. My wife absolutely loves sushi and she was taking the rice off the rolls because she couldn't eat it. I'm giving it 3 stars because the service was great, and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that their other Japanese food is better, and maybe we got sushi on a bad day. That said, we definitely won't be back here for sushi.”
“Great food with really good portion sizes, it even came with a little salad I didn’t know about 😊. The woman who took my order was very kind and patient since I didn’t really know what I wanted 😅 I do wish they had the option to dine in though 😕”
“It’s worth repeating. Freshest and most delicious sushi in Hyde park! The ebi tempura is also delicious. They are friendly and remember you if you come often enough! It is carryout only but don't let that stop you from experiencing the best!”
“I dont usually give reviews but this place is amazing, the people who work here are so kind, the food is so good, and it 100% deserves 5 stars”
“I have been eating at Kikuya for 15 years watching time pass by with a remodel, covid and the family take over the daily from their parents who opened it decades ago. Ever since moving away from Hyde Park I still make a point to visit when I can and even if a year goes by, they remember me, or more specifically my kids who as infants enjoyed their first solid food from Kikuya in 2012 and 2014. They love sushi to this day and if anything is heartbreaking it’s that we can’t dine in at our usual a lot like we used to 2-3 days a week for lunch. You won’t find more authentic Japanese food on the entire Southside of Chicago. And I’m not sure what’s more astonishing, the quality or the value; not only is it that good but you’d spend more on refrigerator sushi from a grocery store.”
“It’s great!! Kids love the California rolls. For the price, the dinner plates we had were good.”
“Freshly fried tonkatsu lunch. Can’t beat $10.50 for a lunch special (+ $2 for salad). Amazing ginger salad dressing. No complaints and will be back.”
