VU Rooftop
VU Rooftop — straightforward food in South Loop. Worth ordering a drink, because the bar holds its own. Warm, genuine service throughout. Group-friendly. "Regardless of seating, the view is incredible" — Melikia K. Courtney [$$$, patio]

“Ate breakfast two mornings. Both times were good. Services were good. View was nice, top of the building able to see the city and the river. Chicken sausage was sweet and juicy with a good flavor. Acia yogurt was good as well. Fruit and oat topping was good. Fruit was fresh. Good sized serving.”

“Love this place!!! The music was pleasantly great and I don’t care for R&B too much, but the music was a good mix of hype energy! The only slight problem I have is that the particular DJ for that night might need a little more experience! His transitions were a bit erratic and switch overly very sharply as if you would think the one song was going to play, but he’ll switch it over right at the good part LOL! But overall, I will keep coming back, unless something bad/weird happens, and hopefully not!”

“Open for HGI breakfast. Nothing special except the morning dawn view.”

“Finally made it onto the VU rooftop, but actually missed getting onto the rooftop. Doesn't make sense, right? Anyway, we were sat at a table next to those that were literally outside in hopes that we'd finish our meal in enough time to physically be on the rooftop. Starting with service... Our server was fabulous - knew the menu and was able to get the kitchen to modify an item per our request. However, the service itself was slow, took 20min for our drinks to arrive (and they were delicious). Food arrives, the request was not honored but ate it anyway. As we were finishing the meal, they brought the modification to the table. While it was too late to eat, the manager comped the meal for us. Lastly, they closed the doors so no one could actually get on the rooftop. Beautiful night, people were out, but access was denied. Which we found out they do regularly, but is confusing. Why close the rooftop and deny guests an opportunity to eat under the stars or capture the skyline & ambience? All in all, good restaurant but a series of unfortunate events didn't leave us with a great experience.”

“Our meal & service was outstanding. A bit warm while dining (93 outside). Outdoor deck relaxing, Views were nice from our table. Salt & pepper shrimp excellent, and spring salad very good.”

“I wentnto Lane Tech Black Alumni Fundraiser .. very nice event ..very nice venue ... OQ”

“The atmosphere was great. The only thing I didn't like was at 12am they made everyone move inside off the rooftop. The place was hot without enough air circulation. It was overall a good experience but promoters should have explained during purchasing that you would have to leave the roof top at 12 due to noise ordnance.”
