Stopped in for restaurant week, food was great. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Price was about the same on RW versus not, so 1/2 of us ordered off menu. Regardless, would come back for the food. Mimas punch is a patio pounder that just needed a great patio (if it wasn’t -2 outside).

We love how Mima's Taste of Cuba is designed and decorated. Friendly, polite and professional staff. We had croquettes, empanadas, steak dinner and chicken dinner with added shrimp. The dinner come with platano maduro (ripened, sweet, cooked plantains) so we order a side of tostones (fried plantains) for an extra savory bite. Delicious food and they offer cocktails. Helpful safety tip the restroom has one step down so if not paying attention you can trip. We will definitely go back and looking forward to trying other dishes and the summer outdoor dining area as well. They have a small parking lot as well if not street parking.

Visiting from Indianapolis for business, I spotted this place while walking my dog and snapped a photo so I wouldn’t forget to try it—and I’m so glad I did! I ordered the Jibarito (Cuban style) and a Beef Empanada with garlic sauce—both were amazing. The plantains were grilled to perfection, the meat was juicy and flavorful, and the empanada was crispy, packed full of beef, and perfectly cooked. If you’re in Irving Park, this is a must-try spot—and even if you’re not, it’s worth the drive!

Just wow…there’s no processed food here and the flavors are AMAZING!!! I’ve been here before but it’s really become spectacular and the portions are excellent. The shrimp empanadas were fire and the lechon on point!!!.

The atmosphere and decor was rhe cutest. Service was fast and staff was kind and helpful. The chicarron with trifongo was delicious. Everything was delicious. They an adorable outdoor patio. Drinks were delicious.

“Food so stupidly good we took a bite and rolled our eyes.”

Food so stupidly good we took a bite and rolled our eyes. We had the chicken and a chorizo & plantain empanada (YUM - the chicken was so good), a regular cuban (delicious and so fairly priced), the glazed guava shrimp (apparently a 10/10) and the pica kos bowl which was so moist and well seasoned. Music was great and the perfect volume, staff were attentive, food came piping hot. We’re new to the neighborhood and can’t wait to come back.

1st timer here. I was impressed. The food was delicious. I had the Jibarito, yuca, and an empanada. The gentleman that waited on us was very friendly and good to talk to. He was very attentive and polite and made some great recommendations. I would definitely go back and try more of their food, no doubt.

“The food is seriously amazing.”

The food is seriously amazing. You gotta try the Cuban sandwich & empanadas- they're like a taste of paradise. The vibe in there is so cozy and friendly, it's the perfect spot for a chill meal. Seriously, don't sleep on this place - it's like a little slice of Cuba right in our backyard!

The food is very fresh quality is extremely good. Atmosphere it is so nice in the patio. If it’s not too hot! They have great music going on. I recommend this place if you’re looking for good food and a great coffee. You won’t regret it! Sorry the food was so good. I forgot to take a picture, but the Lechon was very good!

Service was attentive and kind, the food was phenomenal and you can tell the recipes are traditional. I met the owner of this restaurant in unlikely circumstances before my visit and the love he has for his restaurant translated when i got to experience dine in. the dining room is small but it allows for that mom and pop feel. Definitely try this place out and don't skip out on the Roja Vieja.

Food was delicious, very well seasoned. Service was nice, owners checked on you. Atmosphere had good vibes. Ordered Steak Jibarito, Skirt steak dinner (added shrimp) which was a little salty. & apps such as chicken & beef empanadas. Everything was good especially the empanadas, black beans and white rice. They also make cocktails.
