Prairie Moon — american in Evanston worth a stop for the Salmon Chowder. Good cocktails round out an already strong menu. "The steak was tender, the fries were crispy, and that marg was the perfect mix of sweet and strong" — Nelle W

“I made the reservation with gMaps for dinner on a Saturday, but ended up not needing it”
If you’re hungry, order here I guess. Service was uninterested and the food was really subpar.
Food was okay here but this establishment charged my credit card $104 for a $45 meal.
Waiter was clearly not happy to be there.

“The food was solid and tasty.”
The food was solid and tasty. Great beer selection. It was somewhat slow, but I can see how it gets lively and exciting since they have a large bar, TVs and great alcohol selection.

We were driving around and found this place and it was open late kitchen. Quartet jazz playing while we ate. The food was very well seasoned. The service was very fast fast. Everything was tasty. The staff was very accom. A dating I'm most definitely will be back to try more food on the menu and listen to the entertainment Monday night Thursday night Friday night Wednesday night.

The “slider” burger is only $7 during happy hour but is really a full size burger with fries. The salmon chowder is amazing and unlike anything I had ever tasted. Go here please!!

“I picked this place kinda randomly before seeing a musical act.”
I picked this place kinda randomly before seeing a musical act. I made the reservation with gMaps for dinner on a Saturday, but ended up not needing it. It did get much busier. There were so many upscale-lite dishes. They all sounded so good. So I freaked out, went basic, and got the steak frites. 🤣 Food was good, music was good, draft beers were good. Staff was great. It got very busy, but never noisy. They have sound panels tactfully placed around the place and ceilings. This place will get my return visit.

“Came here after work to unwind and it hit the spot.”
Came here after work to unwind and it hit the spot. The vibe is relaxed with a nice bar setting—perfect for decompressing after a long shift. On my first visit, I tried the steak frites for the first time and paired it with their Pineapple Margarita Jar—both were on point. The steak was tender, the fries were crispy, and that marg was the perfect mix of sweet and strong. Came back a second time and grabbed the calamari, a $7 slider, and fries. Everything was fresh and flavorful. This time I went with the Strawberry Margarita Jar and it did not disappoint. Fast service both times, friendly staff, and you really can’t beat happy hour every day. Definitely adding this to my after-work rotation!

“I had a happy hour experience that left a lot to be desired.”
I had a happy hour experience that left a lot to be desired. I now feel like it could have been a fluke because I had a great dinner experience last weekend. I recommend the salmon chowder. Back again— I can’t gush about my experience more 10/10 Staff- chill, attentive, accommodating Ambiance- it’s beautiful down there right now. Moody with a hint of holiday right now. Food- I think we ordered everything. Clean plates all around.

“Most likely the best happy hour deals in Evanston.”
Most likely the best happy hour deals in Evanston. Many bars don't even have one, and if they do, discounts are miniscule. We love how happy hour includes drinks and bites. Dinner is always solid. Not the most gourmet pasta (not homemade), but tasty and worth the reasonable price. We haven't taken advantage of their Wednesday Jazz nights, but we appreciate the late hour (for Evanston, anyway) entertainment.

Great find! Loved the happy hour seafood bar. $2 oysters, $1 shrimp. Good deal for sure these days. Also oysters were very good quality and flavor which surprised me as they are a more warmer climate oyster. Beer selection good. Atmosphere fun n chill. Only critique is staff was a bit slow but friendly. Highly recommend. Update- went back we had 4 oysters, 10 shrimp...seriously as good as it gets, 1 Northwoods burger and 1 smash chili burger and 1 order blackened chicken hash to go....everything was incredible. Best food n value in Evanston...the hash we used for bfast with an egg...just great. Cannot recommend any higher. Still a bit slow service, but very friendly and great food! My new #1 in Evanston.

“5+5+5🌟 5 for the food 5 for the ambiance 5 for the staff.”
5+5+5🌟 5 for the food 5 for the ambiance 5 for the staff! Absolutely fantastic establishment. I have to give them more than five stars. I had the Prairie Moon half pound burger, with cheddar and pepper jack cheese, onion, tomato, and lettuce. Nice slice of dill pickle came with. A little container of coleslaw, and the garlic fries! And man those garlic fries, smokin! My wife had the Martha's Vineyard salad with Grilled Shrimp, and Calamari with some of their homemade Tartar sauce which was the real deal, plus some of their Cocktail sauce. My wife had a Ginger Beer, I had a Mai Tai which was exceptional. It isn't on the menu, but I have to admit, it was strong and delicious. It's hard to find a good Mai Tai. Cassie was our server, and was one of the sweetest folks we've met. Even though the server doesn't affect the quality of the food, they enhance the ambience and reflect the ethics of the establishment! Prairie Moon is in the lower level of the building, but, some of the best restaurants I've ever been in, have been subterranean so to speak. One that everybody knows about, is the Billy Goat on lower Wacker drive in Chicago. Cheboga cheboga cheboga. No fries, chips. No Coke, Pepsi. Anyway, enough about the Billy Goat. Stop in the Prairie Moon for a delicious meal, excellent music, and good folks! Oh, One more thing, the bathrooms were spotless! Clean bathrooms, clean kitchens! That's always the rule of thumb.

“Stopped for an early dinner after a rainy tour of NW.”
Stopped for an early dinner after a rainy tour of NW. Excellent attentive service. Had the very flavorful trout and veggies, family ordered asparagus soup, mini crab cakes and tacos, Key Lime pie was also tangy and good. Good craft beer tap and bottle/can selection. Multiple seating areas, dining areas are downstairs, sidewalk seating per weather. I assume there is an elevator for accessibility.
