“One of the best Greek restaurants in the city! With a solid menu with plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, I recommend Taxim for anyone new to Greek food or long-time lovers. We split the tzatziki and pita, grape leaf wrapped shrimp, mushroom pastry, fried cauliflower, and roasted potatoes. Everything was a good sharing portion and nothing felt skimpy. The rooftop vibe was excellent on a summer night! Our waitress was great and made us delicious Hugo spritz even though we didn’t see them on the menu, she made it happen! The fired cauliflower was fantastic and I recommend as a must! The phyllo dough pastry was my favorite and came with a side of mild goat cheese - yum! The potatoes were tender and cooked in lamb fat with pieces of juicy lamb included.”

“Had a hankering for some Greek food and wanted to do something outside of Greektown and boy, am I happy I did. The food is very authentic in the best way it feels like there’s a grandma in the back making all the food that just relocated from Greece to Chicago. something I didn’t really know was this is a very regional area of Greece that borders Turkey so there’s some unique flavor profiles that you don’t get at a standard Greek place which I really appreciated. We got the eggplant spread, which I’m usually not the biggest fan of eggplant and I really enjoyed it. It had some smokiness. It had some freshness from the balsamic vinaigrette and maybe like an herb, as well as a little punch of lemon very delicious. We also got the fried cauliflower that had a delicious whipped feta dip and The leak wrapped Filo dough pastry, which was very very good. As an entrée we got the duck gyro and it was some of the most unique yet delicious food I've had in awhile. Service was excellent. Also, you know you’re in for a good time when the menus are laminated yet the ambience is very curated. It feels like homey family run resturnat but by people care. i’ll definitely be coming back and be telling friends about this place.”

“Was a busy night on New Year’s Eve. Ambience and service is great. The food was very delicious and had a wide variety of flavors. Server helped us with picking up a wine as they had a big selection of wines. If you’re looking for something outside of regular Greek food then definitely check them out for a unique experience. Can be a little pricey.”

“5 stars all around. But service really was awesome. Thank you Margaret G you made us feel so welcome”

“One of the best places in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area for modern Greek food. All dishes are made with fresh ingredients. They source seasonal vegetables from small local growers, and small co-operative Greek products from Greece. We sat on the rooftop, which is wide open with fans mounted to the canopy making it comfortable for hot days. The waitstaff are kind. We ordered a few bottles of Greek wine and an assortment of menu items. Unfortunately, they were out of the Duck Gyro, but we had the following dishes and they were all fantastic. Try the Kounoupidi tiganitó, Halloúmi Saganáki, Kebáp yiaourtloú, Kotópoulo, and Bámies laderés (if you like Okra). The best way to order are a variety of different meals so you can share. Definitely will visit again! Also, parking is a bear from all the new bike lanes so be patient if you are driving, or take an Uber.”

“We love it this place.Real Greek restaurant .Thank you for everything David”

“Excellent Greek food and wine! Service was knowledgeable and quite good. We will be back !”

“Such a cute spot! Went with friends and sat on the rooftop. Service was great. Atmosphere is amazing. The braised lamb was phenomenal!”

“I had a wonderful rooftop dinner at Taxim. Everything was delicious. My 4 stars is just to improve the duck temperature on the gyros it was a bit too cooked and control some of the salt on the orzo. The tzatziki was my favorite it tasted like labne which I love! The fried cauliflower was delicious but oilier than I liked. The duck gyros were to die for, the pomegranate molasses was a PERFECT touch. The lemon dill pie was incredible as well as the cheese, pastrami, and egg pie. I need to know where they get that pastrami from lol!! Highly recommend the lamb shank, tender and flavorful 10/10! Orzo was delicious but a bit too salty.”

“We really loved all of the food here! I will definitely come back. The service is not the greatest, they are a bit slow here. The downstairs area can be pretty loud when it fills up but the upstairs patio is nice for summer time.”

“Visited this Greek spot with three colleagues for a work meal and sat on the rustic rooftop, which was nice but didn't capture the authentic Greek vibe. The music didn't help set the right tone. We shared a few appetizers--hummus, tzatziki, octopus, lentils, and spinach pastry--as recommended by the server. The hummus and lentils were bland, the tzatziki was good but too small, and the octopus was chewy and lacked flavor. For mains, we had the duck gyro, lamb shank, sea bass, and chicken. Unfortunately, none impressed. The fried duck gyro was greasy, the fish was flavorless, and the chicken was overly oily and salty. Dessert was baklava, but it was underwhelming and forgettable. The service was fine. Having eaten Greek food globally, this place fell well below par. The food lacked seasoning and authenticity, leaving us disappointed despite the pleasant atmosphere.”
