Yum!!! Got this as a last min lunch, and it was DELICIOUS. I got take out and the fact that the Fro-Go was still solid and intact like 20 min later says so much. Cannot stress how much of a great deal this is- I got the mushroom bowl & the sea salt and olive oil fro-go which is a must try. I will be back many times.

We were in the mood for Greek food while visiting Chicago and came across Kala—what a gem! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We started with the Greek fries and halloumi cheese (so good!), followed by the lamb plates and gyro. The flavors were spot on, and the portions generous. We also enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine. They have self-serve setup for water and silverware towards the back. The staff was wonderful: very friendly, attentive, and patient with all of our questions. Service was quick, even though the place was packed. The only drawback was that it was very loud, making conversation tough at times. Still, the energy and crowd spoke to how popular the restaurant is. Overall, 5 stars for food, service, and experience—4 stars for atmosphere due to the noise. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Chicago!

“The best example of fast modern casual..”

The best example of fast modern casual... and the food is so delicious to boot! I ordered the plate with chicken and beef skewers and was so viciously hungry that I speared off a slice of my beef kebab so quickly that it landed off the floor. I watched it fall in slow motion... it plopped first onto my lap napkin (at which point I thought it would be saved) before descending to the floor in one juicy plop. If I were to give a rose bud thorn that day, that moment would be a definitive thorn; it was such a waste of a thick, plump, juicy piece of steak kebab. Much regret, but the rest of the kebab was great! Just left me yearning for the one that got away :/

“Incredible Mediterranean food.”

Incredible Mediterranean food. Very fresh, high quality ingredients elevate simple dishes to a level that belies the extremely reasonable prices. Souvlaki bowls are 10/10. Frappes are great but skew sweet. It's hard not to recommend KALA. Not much seating and can get crowded, but takeout tastes just as good as dine-in. Harissa or garlic sauce on the side is recommended with the lemon rice, as it can get a bit dry.

“I’ve dined at Kala several times and it’s always amazing.”

I’ve dined at Kala several times and it’s always amazing. Such a friendly, sunny vibe in the restaurant, the staff is so pleasant and hospitable, and the food is always fresh. They have my favorite spanakopita of the city, hands down. And all of their meats are high quality, you can just tell. I’ve had the steak, pork, chicken and shrimp in sandwiches and bowls… hard to pick a favorite 😊 What is most impressive though is that the TAKEOUT is just as good as if you were dining in the restaurant. My Uber Eats driver had a 25 min drive to get the food to me and it was still the highest quality takeout meal I’ve had in recent memory. So, so good. I wish I could eat here everyday.

“Amazinggg flavors.”

Amazinggg flavors. Easy to order, seat yourself and either order at the front or from a QR code at your table. I love the QR code because I get to pick how fast my order gets submitted. The food was great portions and adorable, their Greek Fire Sauce is literally fire. Very friendly staff, street parking can be horrible but there’s a lot of parking. You can dine inside or out in the patio

I ordered the platter with beef and chicken. I liked the chicken. The beef was a bit too fatty for my preference. This place is very popular and I managed to get a solo counter seat by the window. Next time I will try one of their bowls which looked appeasing.

“Favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and probably Chicago?.”

Favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and probably Chicago?! So lucky to have this spot so close to our apartment. The food is super healthy, delicious, fast, and vegan-friendly. You have to try the plant-based keftedes and greek fries! ALSO, if you're a coffee drinker, don't skip the frappes. The metrios is our favorite, out of this world!!! Secretly our favorite spot for coffee. Beyond the menu, the staff is all really friendly and welcoming and the ambiance is beautiful, full of light, and well-decorated.
